Two main events occurred within the Red Sox this past week.
Starting pitcher Curt Schilling may have shoulder surgery at some point before the season starts[1]. He may or may not be able to make a full enough recovery to play this season. At 41 years old, he possibly may also be approaching retirement (within a few years).
On February 5, first baseman Sean Casey signed a one-year deal with the Red Sox. In the past, he has played with the Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Detroit Tigers. He is a three-time All-Star.
