Welcome to WikiProject Backpacking, a collaboration area and group of editors dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of wilderness backpacking and related trails, equipment, and techniques.

- Scope
- Any article related to wilderness backpacking, hiking, bush walking and fell walking is within our scope. Our work concentrates on the following broad areas:
- Hiking trails, in particular long-distance trails.
- Equipment and techniques used while camping and hiking.
- Goals

- To organize and categorize information on backpacking throughout Wikipedia.
- To provide a consistent layout for articles covering backpacking equipment and long-distance footpaths.
- To improve backpacking related articles to Good Article Status.

Articles stemming from WikiProject Backpacking are not exempt from Wikipedia deletion policies. Any article may be included in Wikiproject Backpacking that
- Is notable,
- Is verifiable by reliable sources.
- Is compliant with every aspect of WP:NOT.
- Follows the guidelines of the appropriate Wikipedia:Manual of Style.
- Relates to the topic, of course.
