An explanation as to why each WikiProject is relevant and related to the Anthroponymy Project has been provided here. Listed WikiProjects each have a reciprocal back-linkage to WikiProject Anthroponymy unless otherwise noted.
- Linguisticsumbrella (no back-linkage)
- Linguistics is relevant to name studies in at least three ways: by providing the limits on vocalization and spelling that apply to human names in addition to other words in a language; by providing a language context from which new human names may emerge (e.g. brown the color becoming Brown the surname; smith the occupation becoming Smith the surname); and by providing transformation rules that apply to human names as they traverse linguistic boundaries alongside the migration of peoples and the evolution of languages.
- Etymologyinactive (no back-linkage)
- The etymology of a surname or given name is an essential part of a complete surname or given name article
- Arabic Namesinactive (no back-linkage)
- As of Q1 2008 there is an ongoing discussion around merging this inactive WikiProject into WikiProject Anthroponymy
- Clans of Scotland
- Scottish Clans are the origin of a significant number of surnames emerging from the British Isles. These surnames are often used as male forenames too. For instance, Ross, Cameron, or Campbell.
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Disambiguation (no back-linkage)
- As of Q1 2008 there is an ongoing discussion around what distinguishes a dab page from a name article and what things belong in each.
