WikiNi is open source software under the BSD licence that offers a simple, effective and rapid way to create and manage an internet or intranet site. It is free, and may be freely redistributed and modified under the terms of the BSD licence. It is a fork of the WakkaWiki Wiki engine. Wikini is written in PHP, and is designed to be light and fast.

Wikini grew out of a French language version of WakkaWiki, and hence has strong French language support.

[edit] Functionality

WikiNi allows any web user, online, with any browser, to :

  • create, delete, edit or comment on the pages of a site, with any number of editors or pages.
  • manage access rights to each page (read, write, or comment).
  • layout a page content in a very intuitive and visual way, using formatting rules which require no technical skills.
  • publish immediately any creation or modification of a page.
  • analyze and manage the whole site through simple functions : site map, list of users, most recently modified or commented pages, etc.

[edit] Installation

WikiNi can be installed in about ten minutes on a server which supports PHP and a MySQL database. Once installed, the WikiNi site is working immediately, and can be managed online from a web browser.
