[edit] Moi

All-around gadfly. I'm an educator, sports lover. Born in England, grew up some in Newtownards and Bangor, County Down in Northern_Ireland lived a lot of my life in the Inland Empire. Am interested in editing pages related to the ol' IE. Also very interested in politics and the media, particularly journalists, so I like to look in on the sometimes hagiographic pages which some journos get because they figure no one really looks at that page. It's truly hilarious how deferential some of the pages of minor journos are. Also a big basketball fan, like keeping my fave players, adn just players which I hear about, current. And having studied history, I enjoy the process of maintaining material in a systematic manner.

[edit] Wynonie Harris

Wow! You've been busy on Wynonie Harris. Good work. Well done.
And I like the little bits and pieces you've added - you're obviously familiar with the subject matter.
You added as well as half-brothers to the statement about Harris & Love. Interesting! Did they have a common mother (Mallie) or common father (Blue Jay)? Or was the common "father" Luther Harris? Do you have a reference you can add to the article?
Cheers, Pdfpdf 17:07, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

On review, the statement about Love and Harris was wrong. I went back and looked and I was confused by something....but yeah....the guy has an amazing voice and I just like to keep some accurate records about figures who did something good in the world. I see you're in Australia...I'm originally English, live in the States, have two cousins down near Melbourne. Well, one for sure, the other I've never met, but I know he lives down in NSW somewhere. Hopefully I'll be able to visit some time. 17:30, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Moving right away from Mr Harris. (Well, he died in 1969 - I'm sure he won't mind. But I have to admit, I'm quite disappointed he & Love aren't half brothers; it sounded like it might be an interesting story!)
I'm originally English - Where from? How old when you left?
live in the States - Where?
have two cousins down near Melbourne. Well, one for sure, the other I've never met, but I know he lives down in NSW somewhere. - Melbourne is in southern Victoria, at least 100 miles from the nearest part of NSW ...
Hopefully I'll be able to visit some time. - I have lots of British and American friends who have said that to me. Two American and two English friends have actually carried out the "threat" and visited, but unfortunately, none of the others ... My wife's from Leicestershire. We met when we were both living in Holland in the 80's, and after 5 years there we migrated to Adelaide. Five years later, my wife's sister migrated here too. Pdfpdf 14:13, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

((((((cringe))))))Oops, I thought I knew a bit of geography.....geez, I sound like an arrogant Yank. Oh dear. Yes, well, I've told friends in Mexico, Washington that I'll visit them...and I have. Admittedly, Oz is a lot further than that....but still, I have some motivation too. Anyway. So where are you from? Wikitoddia 15:07, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

By coincidence, Adelaide. I moved East, then to Boston, then to Europe. Migrating to Adelaide was my wife's choice. Except for the weather, I rather enjoyed living in Holland. And you? Pdfpdf 04:24, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Born in Newcastle, moved around England till I was 8, moved to California and lived here for four years. Lived four years in N. Ireland. Back to the States in '91. Wikitoddia 10:00, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

What got you interested in Harris? My interest has an almost random trail. I rather like the song What a Fool Believes, and I heard a cover version by M People that I liked even better. It got me interested in what other cover versions had been done. (I think Anita Baker's version is the best, but I can't find any information about it!). During the course of this I came across Lester Abrams, which lead me to the Omaha Black Music Hall of Fame, and thus, Wynonie Harris. Pdfpdf 11:40, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Not sure exactly. I have liked the blues and increasingly got into older R 'n' B. I look at music blogs, find great MP3s. I think I found it at Music You Won't Hear Anywhere Else...but I'm not sure. I'm certainly not aware of the specific track I took to find Wynonie. How's winter going down there? Wikitoddia 17:08, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

How's winter? Cold!! Someone says it's the coldest June since 1989. Given that June isn't over yet, I'm not quite sure about the accuracy of that statement, but I certainly agree with the sentiment. It's not Canada cold or Siberia cold, but for someone who is used to a temperature range of 15-40, 0-5 is cold!
Yeah, I like blues and r&b too. Do you have any interest in Soul or Funk? Pdfpdf 02:33, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I love some Al Green, lots of Motown type stuff......and have discovered the joys of Parliament Funkadelic and George Clinton recently. Yes, I love soul.....wasn't my thing when I was younger-not that I'm that much older now, but still, yes, I enjoy it.22:41, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hi, there, Wikitoddia!

Hey, Wikitoddia! How are you doing? Thank you for your comments on my user page (I'm sorry that I couldn't reply to them sooner; I've been on a bit of a break from my usual erratic Wikipedia activity, in the attempt of starting to write a book [although, unfortunately, progress on it is tiresomely slow.]) It's nice to get some sort of acknowledgement for once, and I'm very glad that you liked the contents of my page! It tends to be a depository for a slim percentage of my interests at any given time, but if you or anyone else finds it interesting, then I am overjoyed :).

Best wishes,
