Hello Wikipete, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Bandera de madrid.svg.png) was found at the following location: User:Wikipete. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Image:Sydneyflag.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. I saw your question on Image:King of Shadows cover.jpg which was tagged by that (damned) BetacommandBot. It looks like Wiki policy changed, and now the templates are no longer sufficient to justify fair use (although IMO they should be). I've been adding fair-use rationales to book covers, using this sort of boiler-plate format:

Although this image is subject to copyright, it is covered by US fair use laws because:
- The image is only being used in the article about the book [Name of Book] for informational and educational purposes.
- Use of the book cover visually identifies the book and its author in a manner that mere prose cannot, and meets all criteria in WP:NFCC.
- This image enhances the article in which it's displayed, as it provides an immediate relevance to the reader more capably than the textual description alone.
- The image is not replaceable with an uncopyrighted or freely copyrighted image of comparable educational value.
- The image is the primary means of visual identification of the article topic.
- The image is a low resolution image of the book cover, in an inferior graphics format (JPEG).
- The image is only a small portion of the commercial product.
- The use of this image will not affect the value of the original work.
- The use of this image will not limit the copyright holder's rights or ability to distribute or make a profit from the original. In particular, copies could not be used to make illegal copies of the book.
Obviously, you have to check to ensure it is only being used in one article, that the resolution is low, and so on. If you want to help undo the damage caused by the deletion-happy bots, check out [this page] which has a giant list of disputed images. Kweeket 00:54, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Old malden library.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
