[edit] Your reverts to Iphone

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly, as you are doing in Iphone. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. Rather than reverting, discuss disputed changes on the talk page. The revision you want is not going to be implemented by edit warring. Thank you. -- Kesh 17:47, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Can I just say that it was my edit that was reverted, not the other way around. I will not take kindly upon this warning. I will of course not revert it, but you can expect me to take this all the way up to the highest authorities if necessary. This issue is not over.--Wiki Fanatic | Talk 22:23, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Note that I reverted your edits once. You performed three reversions in less than 24 hours, hence the warning. Also note I did not report this to WP:ANI as normally would be called for, because I believed you would see the dispute and work with other editors to resolve it, rather than continuing to revert. I see you have not reverted since, which is appreciated.
Feel free to bring this up at WP:RfC, as I will have no qualms explaining my actions to any dispute resolution you bring it up with. -- Kesh 22:51, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
I looked at: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Iphone&action=history. It shows I only reverted once. I have no idea what you are talking about. I only reverted once and added a disputed tag, after you redirected it. See for yourself above. I fully intend to bring this up with WP:RfC, so I'll see you there soon.(also posted to user's talk page)--Wiki Fanatic | Talk 23:33, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Your first edit was to revert the Iphone disambiguation page back to a link to iPhone (Linksys). You then performed two more reverts in less than 24 hours to continue reverting to that article. This is 3RR. See the History for that disambiguation page. Relevant changes listed below:

  • 21:12, January 10, 2007 Wiki fanatic (Talk | contribs) (avoiding POV, see talk page) diff
  • 21:53, January 10, 2007 Wiki fanatic (Talk | contribs) (correcting POV, see talk page first, before editing) diff
  • 05:44, January 11, 2007 Wiki fanatic (Talk | contribs) (reverting back and adding disputed tag, see talk page) diff

I hope this clarifies where I'm coming from. -- Kesh 23:50, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

You may also find Help:Reverting useful. Any edit that takes you back to the previous version of a page is a revert, not just clicking "Undo" (which only became available recently). By editing it back to iPhone (Linksys) you reverted the article, and again when you kept changing it to that link.
Again, I had no intention of making this an official action against you. The template message was to alert you to the 3RR violation, so you would not continue (which likely would have resulted in official censure). Thus, the reason I did not submit it to WP:ANI.
If you still feel it necessary to resolve through WP:RfC, I will be more than happy to explain this there as well. -- Kesh 23:57, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Ahh, I see your point. I did not relize my first and second posts counted as reverts. The first edit you listed I did independently of any previous revert by anyone else, or so I thought. Therefore, I did not think of it as a revert; I thought I was the first to redirect to iphone linksys. The second edit on your list was unintented as a revert, as I was attempting to change the other "IPhone" redirect (with the captiol I) and got mixed up. The third and final edit you listed was intented as a revert (hence my count of one revert). Given my apparently incorrect way of counting reverts, I thought you were trying to accuse me of something I did not do. I understand the 3RR rule and certainly would not intentionally violate it. As this is a misunderstanding, I give you my apologies and hope it did not inconvience you greatly.(also posted to user's talk page)--Wiki Fanatic | Talk 01:30, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Please note that I still dispute the redirect of the "iphone" article.
No problem! I figured that was where the confusion came in. And that's why I posted the template, thinking you didn't realize you hit 3RR. I also understand where you're coming from on the iPhone redirect. I have a feeling it will take some time to resolve that one, and may require an RfC on the redirect itself. -- Kesh 01:45, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Username change

As you requested, your username has now been changed from Wiki fanatic to WikiFanatic. If you haven't done it already, please remember to move your user page and your talk page using the "move" tab on the upper right-hand side of your screen. Redux 11:51, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Thank you.--WikiFanatic | Talk 21:35, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Username

Hi. Unfortunately, your username appears to violate Wikipedia:Usurpation, as it was the previous username of User:1ne, a Wikipedia administrator. I recommend that you change your username (again), as hopefully this will stop controversy from brewing. Regards, Khoikhoi 04:49, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Per WikiFanatic's (aka, 1ne, aka Sushigeek) request, I have reverted the renaming of this account. If he wishes to request a different name, that's fine, but user:WikiFanatic is taken. Raul654 23:40, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm sorry. I had forgotten that the username had belonged to a longstanding user and is still associated with him to some extent. If you would like to attempt some kind of compromise regarding the use of this username, please talk to 1ne, see what you guys can work out, if anything. Cheers, Redux 12:58, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Wow. That was unexpected. How do I talk to 1ne if he won't talk to anyone? It seems his userpage and discussion page are locked User_talk:1ne.--Wiki Fanatic | Talk 08:43, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
My talk page has never been locked. 1ne 06:29, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi. Actually, I didn't revert the rename, Raul654 did, at 1ne's request. It seems that 1ne has taken a break from editing, but you can still e-mail him through the website. You would need to have an e-mail account of your own enabled as well in order to be able to use the Emailuser feature though — if you don't at this time, you can do it by editing your Preferences. That would seem to be the most effective way of talking to him: propose a solution, see what he'll say about that. Cheers, Redux 10:22, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Office 2007 screenshots/WP:FU

Hi, Please note that under terms of fair use of the Office 2007 screenshots (or for that matter any fair-use image), they can only be used in articles (see fair use criteria). This means that you probably have to remove them from your user subpage. – Chacor 13:08, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

The images I link to are already being used in articles. I simply show lower resolutions previews on my user subpage to help out editors who need screenshots. I didn't think it would be an issue. If it is, please tell and I will convert them to links, rather than show previews.--Wiki Fanatic | Talk 07:22, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
You miss the point - they can only be used in articles, no-where else. – Chacor 11:07, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
I am not missing the point. That userpage is simply to archive them for the ease of use for other editors. Since it seems to bother you, I will remove the previews and instead provide links.--Wiki Fanatic | Talk 11:11, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
You may want to re-read the policy page. The images, even as thumbs, are not allowed anywhere but in articles. – Chacor 11:12, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
For god sakes, what more do you want? I have already agreed to provide links instead of previews. Show me where it says it is not OK to simply link to images?--Wiki Fanatic | Talk 11:16, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Linking is indeed fine. Me asking you to re-read the policy was after you claimed you weren't missing the point. – Chacor 11:19, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Changes have been made. Userpage should now comply with fair use rules. And I wasn't missing the point, you were. I understand your point regarding fair use, but I refuse to remove thementioning of images (now links) from my userpage, as the point of that user subpage is to archive them.--Wiki Fanatic | Talk 11:29, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Windows Vista screenshots

When posting news images in the future, using Windows Vista, please try using this program, it'll make the Glass transparent and will upload with a transparent background behind it, vs. having a background behind the window. Just a piece of advice, I found out about this program just other day. (also, if you install it, right click the sys tray icon, click settings, then storage, then select PNG image under the Format section) Chris (Talk) (Contribs) 01:56, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for showing me that. I was wondering if such a program existed. --Wiki Fanatic | Talk 07:19, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Microsoft Office Word 2007.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Microsoft Office Word 2007.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. It may be deleted. A better image has replaced the one mentioned above.--Wiki Fanatic | Talk 23:36, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. JackLau 01:40, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem

Hi Wiki fanatic!
