[edit] About Wikipedia

I'm of the opinion that the Wikipedia:About page needs to be most helpful as can be in answering questions people often have about Wikipedia. This is especially true, since it is linked more prominently per discussion at MediaWiki_talk:Sidebar#Wikipedia:About. With that in mind, I have boldly gone through the page to do copyedits and reorder sections, as needed. I may come back later, after giving more about the most commonly asked questions and issues are, and see that those are addressed properly in the "About" page. Your suggestions and feedback would be most helpful, or please go in and change things yourself if you wish. --Aude (talk) 17:40, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hello

I saw the post at WP:AN today and would like to introduce myself. I'm a sysop on the English edition of Wikipedia and I've written letters to the press to suggest factual corrections in stories that cover Wikipedia. To the extent that my volunteer time allows, I'd like to help you out. Please contact me at my user talk page. Regards, DurovaCharge! 17:47, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Spokeswomanship for requesting permission

It has been pointed out that because the Wikimedia Foundation is so powerful, it could lobby effectively for images and media it would otherwise be claiming as fair use to be released under open-source licenses. But individual editors probably can't, especially since under the new bylaws we're no longer members of the WMF. So what if when we wanted to request the release of something, instead of making the request under our own names, we were to ghost-write them and have you send them in the name of the Foundation? [edit] Assistance with media relations?

Hi, it's been suggested I run by you an initiative currently underway at WikiProject Oregon, where we are trying to get the word out about what we're up to. Background info is here, and the press release we're working on is here. (Hoping to get it out in the next day or two.) If you have input, feel free to contact me directly through email or on the phone: 503-453-9766. Thanks! -Pete (talk) 08:29, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
