[edit] WikiProject Ships banner template usage

The project banner template is used to identify articles within the scope of WikiProject Ships and document their quality rating and importance.

The {{WikiProject Ships}} template should be placed at the top of the article's discussion (talk) page by including the following text:

{{WikiProject Ships |class= |importance= }}

If the article has an existing quality rating by WP:MILHIST, or on its own, initialize the value of class to the current rating, otherwise leave it empty. Before copying the quality rating from other than MILHIST, consider how they assess their articles. Do not blindly copy the value of importance from another project as that value is relative to each project.

Please review the WikiProject Ships Assessment process.

[edit] Multiple projects

If there are three or more projects claiming an article, use {{WikiProjectBannerShell}} to encapsulate all the project banners.

{{WikiProjectBannerShell|1=
{{WPMILHIST|nested=yes
    |class=
    |Maritime-task-force= yes
   }}
{{WikiProject Ships |class= |importance= |nested=yes}}
{{ShipwrecksWikiProject|class= |nested=yes}}
}}

If one of the other projects does not support the |nested=yes parameter and that support cannot be added, then it needs to wrapped in {{BannerShell}}. See Template:WikiProjectBannerShell/doc, for comments on how to add that support, or use the wrapper. Also, if the article is considered a biography of a living person, use the "|blp=yes" parameter.
