From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a documentation subpage for Template:WikiProject Connecticut (see that page for the template itself).
It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page.

[edit] Usage

This template {{WikiProject Connecticut}} adds articles to Category:WikiProject Connecticut articles and is a self-reference. Please add to relevant articles' talk pages.

This template should be transcluded as {{WikiProject Connecticut}} and not substituted {{subst:}} because it employs conditional code. Transclusion also allows easy updating of all the Project's talk pages without having to edit thousands of pages.

The template also employs several optional data field parameters as described below. For an example of how the template will appear if all parameters are active, please see Template:WikiProject Connecticut/Example.

[edit] Parameters legend

  • class: Options are FA, A, GA, B, Start, Stub, NA, Cat, Dab, List, Redir, and Template. If blank (#default), this will default as unassessed and list the article at Category:Unassessed Connecticut articles. NA is "not applicable". Descriptions of some of the options can be found at WikiProject Connecticut/Quality scale.
  • importance: Top, High, Mid, Low, NA. If blank, this will default as unknown importance. Only Top will have a visible effect on the template - the other options will just assign the correct category. Descriptions of the options can be found at WikiProject Connecticut/Importance scale.
  • attention: Answer yes if the page needs immediate attention. Leave blank or delete if not.
  • past-biography: If this article has previously been selected as the Project's biography of the month, enter date as "Month Year". For example, "past-biography=February 2007"
  • past-collaboration: If this article has previously been selected as the Project's collaboration of the month, enter date as "Month Year". For example, "past-collaboration=February 2007"
  • past-picture: If an image in this article has previously been selected as the Project's picture of the month, enter date as "Month Year". For example, "past-picture=February 2007"
  • past-selected: If this article has previously been selected as the Project's article of the month, enter date as "Month Year". For example, "past-selected=February 2007"
  • imageneeded: Answer yes to request a photograph, image, or map of the subject be added to the article. Leave blank or delete if not.
  • in: Used in conjunction with the imageneeded parameter to place the image request into a specific Connecticut county. Leave blank or delete if not. For example, "in=Fairfield County, Connecticut" will place the article talk page into Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Fairfield County, Connecticut.
  • Additional in2 and in3 parameters used in conjunction with the imageneeded parameter may be used to specify up to three total location categories (such as for celebrities and other people who may frequent multiple county locations).
  • imagedetails: This free-form parameter can be used in conjunction with the imageneeded parameter to add specific details about the images being requested. For example, "imagedetails=Please add a live-action shot to this sports article" will add the following: "An editor suggests the following: Please add a live-action shot to this sports article."
  • nested: Answer yes if the template is to be nested under {{WikiProjectBannerShell}} on a talk page with three or more WikiProject banners. Leave blank if not yet.
  • small: Answer yes if the template needs to be smaller and lined up vertically on the side of the talk page.
  • unref: Answer yes if the article needs additional references or inline citations. Leave blank or delete if not.

[edit] Notes

To avoid needlessly cluttering up talk pages, it is usually appropriate to remove any unused parameters from the template. A common initial configuration for the template includes the following basic parameters:
