Ulterior motive, Wikineet Kinetic energy is energy that a body has as a result of its speed or energy of motion. It is formally defined as work needed to accelerate a body from rest to a velocity v. Having gained this energy during its acceleration, the body maintains this kinetic energy unless its speed or mass changes.
