I first joined Wikipedia anonymously, on May 29 2003, but I did not get an account until January 31 2004. I am an admin since May 25 2005, so just drop me a line if you want some help.
My take on Wikipedia: Wikipedia is the best encyclopedia out there. In spite of the fact that many articles are half-done, they usually contain more information than the average paper encyclopedia article. As for reliability and neutrality, you find the same problem in paper encyclopedias, but there you can't fix it.

It is a period of edit war. Cabal editors, striking
from a hidden mailing list, have won their first
victory against the evil Troll Empire.
Between reverts, Cabal spies managed to steal the
secret source code to the Empire's ultimate weapon,
the DeathBot, an automated vandalbot with enough
bandwidth to vandalize an entire server.
Pursued by the Empire's sinister sockpuppets, Princess
Shauri races home along her redirects, custodian of the
stolen source code that can save her project and restore
