The 'town of' Wigan, named 'Wigan', is a CONSERVATIVE town. The outlying towns, which are not Wigan but are within the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, are traditionally Labour strongholds. 'Wigan' is not.

There is a massive difference between 'Wigan' and Wigan 'Metropolitan Borough', which consists of many towns joined together for administrative purposes. Wigan is but one of these many towns.

This very fact renders this article worthless and, until these discrepancies are corrected, Wikipedia will remain unreliable as a source of correct information.
