Wieslawa Hunzvi

Wieslawa Hunzvi (born 1953) is the former wife of Chenjerai "Hitler" Hunzvi and an author. A Polish citizen, she met Hunzvi while he studied medicine in Poland in the 1970s. According to Wieslawa Hunzvi abused and beat her constantly, finding enjoyment in this practice. She soon became estranged and became very vocal in her opposition to him and Robert Mugabe's ZANU-PF government. Although her husband was the leader of the Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association from 1997 until his death from AIDS in 2001, she leaked information stating that he admitted to never having fought in the Rhodesian Civil War and had never even fired a single shot. She described him as a "cruel and vile man who took delight in beating me. And as for the war, he never fired a shot. He saw no action at all." She had two sons, Andrew Runhare and Ngoni Hunzvi, with Chenjerai and currently resides in her native Poland. From 1995 until 2001, she had no contact with Hunzvi. In 1993 she published her memoirs in her book, White Slave, which was published in Poland in 1993. She is now 54 years of age. She lives in the city of Warsaw.
