The village is locate circa at 12 km in north of Kellinghusen, and 10 in west of Neumünster, in the middle of Naturpark Aukrug.

Wiedenborstel, with only 7 inhabitants (31/12/2006), is the lesser populated municipality of Germany. The citizens belongs all 7 to the same family and in 1910 the town had 119 inhabitants [1].
