I graduated with a BS degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. I have over 25 years experience in computing and information processing. My experience has included computer operator, applications programmer, systems analyst, systems programmer, systems administrator, networking, firewall administrator, and information systems security.

I am the Director of Information Security at a mid-sized college in Colorado USA. My duties included: educating Management, staff and users about best practices; developing written policies; disaster recovery planning; managing firewalls; installing and managing network intrusion detection systems; conducting vulnerability assessments; recommending risk remediation methods; identifying and locating compromised computers; aiding in the investigation of such things as unauthorized use of an account, threatening Email, forged Email and SPAM; assisting with HIPAA compliance.

I am a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) and also hold a GSEC certification from the SANS Institute. I have been a licensed amateur radio operator (ham radio) for the past 20 years.

I have made use of Wikipedia for several years but have never been a contributer. I hope to begin submitting contributions to the Information Security article and the Computer security and Computer network security categories. Be forewarned, I'm not a very good speller!
