[edit] Background
Wicoff Elementary school was built in 1919, and it was originally a 2-room schoolhouse. Later, in 1925 the town grew, it was expanded and included a stone-walled wing, with 2 floors. In 1954, the now-main portion of the school was built. The style of the school is Gothic, with limestone trim and exterior built with Princeton stone.[4] The original building is now an office building for the school.
[edit] Classes
The school serves the students (grades 1-3) from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 15:15. There are 8 periods, including a separate period for lunchtime for each grade. The subject materials are physical education, mathematics (mostly arithmetic; only 1 division, although if specially qualified an advanced program is available), art, music, social studies, science, health at intermittent times taught by the school nurse, writing, reading, and for 2nd and 3rd grades, there is a scheduled time for borrowing books at the library. For Kindergarten students, there are two sessions, the morning and afternoon classes. The morning session lasts from 9:00 to 11:30, while the afternoon session lasts 12:45 to 15:15.[5]
