"Why?" was the debut single by British R&B group Mis-Teeq.
"Why?" was originally an R&B song with pop influences. The music video featured the group (featuring Zena McNally) walking through a warehouse. The R&B version was the planned first single; however, Matt "Jam" Lamont's garage remix proved to be more popular, resulting in that version being released as the lead single from "Lickin' on Both Sides". The vocals were sped up, and a garage beat was inserted along with a new hook and riff. The music video for this version involved the girls in the aftermath of a house party and singing in front of a large stone building. This version did also feature McNally.
