"Why" is a hit song recorded by Frankie Avalon in 1959 and went to number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart for the week of December 28, 1959, making it the last number one single of the 1950s. The song was written by Frankie's manager and record producer Robert "Bob" Marcucci and Peter De Angelis. This was Avalon's second and final number-one hit.
Donny Osmond recorded a cover of the song in 1972. It was released as a single and peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100.
