The Valley's FOX is the Fox-affiliated television station for Harrisonburg, Virginia. The station is a second digital subchannel of ABC affiliate WHSV-TV which is owned by Gray Television.

Over-the-air, The Valley's FOX broadcasts a digital signal on UHF channel 49.2 from WHSV's transmitter which is located west of Stanley on Massanutten Mountain. The station is also offered on Comcast digital cable channel 192. It is currently not offered on the cable system's basic tier due to WTTG, Washington D.C.'s affiliate. That station continues to be the area's default Fox affiliate and it is still carried on Comcast channel 5.

The Valley's FOX parent station has studios on North Main Street in downtown Harrisonburg. Syndicated programming on the station includes: TMZ, Everybody Loves Raymond, Frasier, and That '70s Show. Overnight, the station airs shows from The Sportsman Channel.

[edit] History

During the late summer and early fall of 2006, WHSV underwent major technical upgrades to make way for the creation of The Valley's FOX . A large tower was built behind the station’s Harrisonburg studios to accommodate the additional satellite receiver needed for the Fox venture.

The Valley's FOX began broadcasting on October 26, 2006. In March of 2007, the station was placed on Comcast digital cable channel 705. At some point in time, it switched to channel 192. On its launch date, WHSV-DT2 and the main WHSV channel were scheduled to be carried on Dish Network within the Harrisonburg market and had been uplinked to the satellite. However, a last minute court decision prevented this and Dish dropped all plans to carry the stations. Eventually, the two stations began to be carried.

At some point in the future, there are plans to air a 10 P.M. newscast on The Valley's FOX. Currently, there are no local news broadcasts on the station.
