WHRO-FM

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

WHRO-FM is a classical music radio station in Norfolk, Virginia. It broadcasts on the FM dial at 90.3 mHz and is owned by the Hampton Roads Educational Telecommunications Association.

HRETA began a drive to get a second frequency for classical music programming in the 1980s, in hopes of adding more NPR programming on the old WHRO-FM, at 89.5 FM. This drive succeeded in 1988, and in 1990, HRETA moved the WHRO-FM calls and classical music programming to 90.3 FM. NPR news, jazz and alternative music remained on 89.5 under new calls, WHRV.
