The National Lottery: Who Dares Wins is the UK version of the game show The Rich List, created by 12 Yard Productions.
The show was originally offered to ITV1, for whom a pilot hosted by Eamonn Holmes was produced in May 2006. ITV decided not to commission a series, The board for the pilot version was the same as the American one only in pounds. After the format was successfully sold abroad under its original title, a UK version was commissioned by the BBC. The main game, which is recorded, breaks at two points to allow for the inclusion of the live National Lottery draws on BBC 1. The board for this one is:
- 3 steps to £5,000
- 6 steps to £10,000
- 9 steps to £15,000
- 12 steps to £25,000
- 15 steps to £50,000
As you can see, the steps are the same as the board used on New Zealand's version of the show, but in pounds sterling instead of New Zealand dollars.
Game play is the same as the basic international format.
