User talk:Who/Imdb
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I propose we replace the {{{name}}} attribute with {{PAGENAME}}
- This proposal is for changing Template:Imdb name and Template:Tvtome person.
- I use it much more than typing the name, and I have yet to see a biographical article not named the same as the name attribute.
- It will NOT effect the articles currently using the old style.
- I am demonstrating the userfied template on the article Bruce Baron (randomly selected, rarely visited article). The name attribute will just be ignored for the original styles. I also incorporated the proposed change by Phil, that had no obvious objections.
- This will reduce typo's in the name, as well as, speed up editing.
- Here is the new code in use:
[http://www.imdb.com/name/nm{{{id}}} Entry on ''{{PAGENAME}}''] at the [[Internet Movie Database]]
- Renders as: Entry on Who/Imdb at the Internet Movie Database
and
*[http://www.tv.com/person/{{{id}}}/summary.html Entry on ''{{PAGENAME}}''] at [[TV.com]]
Note: Since both templates function in the same manner, I am only demonstrating one of them, but both will be updated. <>Who?¿? 20:55, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Technical limitations
- This won't work out too well for pages whose titles aren't accurate (those using {{titlelacksdiacritics}}), the old template would need to remain for these at least. --Joy [shallot] 22:25, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

- Or those that are disambiguated – James Stewart (actor) for example. violet/riga (t) 22:28, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
