[edit] Database groveling, again

Hi, I've been offline for a while (sick, and then catching up on more important stuff. I'm not checking my talk: page much, so please use email (jnc AT mit DOT edu) to communicate. Not sure if you still need anything from me - I see JamesDay did an update run.

Without the error message from wkf, I don't know what it was unhappy about; since it successfully processed a chunk consisting of about 10% of the database before (back when we were having the truncation problems) when I ran it on my machine, I'm curious as to what the problem might be. It doesn't do anything fancy, just uses STDIO, so it should run OK on your machine. It does use an line input buffer of 16MB (some nitwit vandals have been amusing themselves putting huge entries in the database), but that's all that's unusual about it. It shouldn't need any special flags to compile; I just used "cc -o wkf wkf.c" IIRC.

My database counter (wkc) uses the following kinds of entries: <contributor> (which include <username> and <id> entries as subentries; it actually uses the ID field to avoid having to create its own indexes, although technically I could, but since they were already there I decided to just use them), <title> (to get the namespace), and <timestamp> (to know when the edit was made). It's completely done, and functional - it worked fine on the truncated database a couple of months ago.

If you can get me a reduced copy of the database (i.e. without the <text> entries) wkc should produce the output list of counts just fine (not sorted, is all - I didn't feel like adding the sort, seemed like a waste of time). Noel (talk) 17:44, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion on Lott postings

You wrote me about discussing my edits and for that matter the edits of others who have tried to fix this posting. I have tried repeatedly to discuss these issues in the discussion section and all I get back is "no." (by number of words over 90 percent of the discussion in Sections 18, 19, and 20 are postings that I have offered. (Section 21 is almost exclusively a recopying from elsewhere.) Despite my extensive efforts in only a couple of cases do I get a useful response back and even when I offer to compromise 100 percent on those couple of mentions, the ultimate response is "no change" and no explanation is offered. The same thing has happened to Al Lowe and others. If you have a suggestion, I am open to it, but I don't know what to do. Given that Al and I have tried to make real efforts to discuss this, why is it that our posts are removed, but those on the other side face no discussion of sanctions?Timewarp 15:03, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Titoxd's RfA

Thank you!
Thank you!

Thank you for supporting me in my RfA. I never thought I would get so much support! Thanks to your help, my nomination was the 10th most supported RfA in Wikipedia history. Now, please keep an eye out on me while I learn the new tools, ok? Thanks again! Titoxd(?!?) 18:17, 25 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Peter Stadlen

In the Peter Stadlen article you wrote that he died 1996 and assisted Mozart. This must be erroneous. Punkmorten 21:19, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

I didn't cite sources, just adding to a stub article which could become a good resource. «»Who?¿?meta 21:45, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I can't make an Alpha page than no one can. Everybody told me not to make one. But he has to put one on. So KEEP THAT REDIRECTION ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

[edit] Peter Stadlen article clearly nonsense

How the heck does someone who helped Mozart compose his music die in 1996!?! WTF

That IP address was clearly full of nonsense, Please explain your actions.

Thank You Bubbleboys 22:05, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

As I said, I did not cite sources, I just tried to improve a stub article. Secondly, please read WP:Civil, telling someone to "explain your actions" can seem harsh. If another admin feels strongly about it,they can delete it. «»Who?¿?meta 22:26, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] concerning the manifesto revert

--67.184.163.248 22:06, 28 October 2005 (UTC)Ikiroid Ok, sorry about the whole hacker manifesto edit, but i figured that it wasnt a big deal, seeing as how the whole hacker manifesto thing is on many websites anyway, including some of the sites cited at the end of the article. You can edit it back, whatever, I dont want to get in an edit war about it.

[edit] includeonly/noinclude

Please don't use these tags on {{cfd}} and related deletion-templates. Since {{afd}} should always be subst'ed, people have a tendency to subst other deletion templates as well, and if those contain any includeonly/noinclude bits it rather messes up the relevant article and some categories. Thanks. Radiant_>|< 17:27, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Your monobook.js

Hey, I noticed your message over at MediaWiki talk:Blockiptext about your javascript links on user pages, and they looked really nice, so I wanted to use them. However, I can't seem to get the block, block log, arin, and contribs tab to show up. Any ideas on what I did wrong? I belive I copied the code correctly. Link to my monobook.js if you want to check it out: User:GregAsche/monobook.js. No worries if it takes you a while to respond due to the hurricane. -Greg Asche (talk) 06:17, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

  • Hey, I fixed it on your monobook.js, I think :). Let me know if it works or not. I tested it on my bot account, and it seemed to work. I don't think it works with IE though, I'm using Firefox. «»Who?¿?meta 22:37, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
  • Thanks, that fixed it. I was clearing my cache, and using the latest firefox by the way... -Greg Asche (talk) 22:54, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Comments about rollback

Hiya Who, I just read your comments about the javascript rollback on Wikipedia talk:Requests for adminship. I would invite you to read two sections of the talk page for the requests for rollback privileges proposal, "Why is this necessary?" and "Low Bandwidth User Interest" which explain why the javascript rollback is not a solution for some people - you may not have considered this! Cheers, Talrias (t | e | c) 17:05, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

  • Hi, I will try to read all of the comments when I get time. I scrolled thru them and see some of your point. I will express my opinion on that page when time permits. Thanks. «»Who?¿?meta 22:39, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] A request for the Whobot!

Hi. I saw you are the owner of Whobot. It would be great if you could run this script for me:

MOVE_CONTENTS Category:Arges Category:Argeş
MOVE_CONTENTS Category:Braila Category:Brăila
MOVE_CONTENTS Category:Brasov Category:Braşov
MOVE_CONTENTS Category:Caras-Severin Category:Caraş-Severin
MOVE_CONTENTS Category:Dambovita Category:Dâmboviţa
MOVE_CONTENTS Category:Maramures Category:Maramureş
MOVE_CONTENTS Category:Neamt Category:Neamţ
MOVE_CONTENTS Category:Timis Category:Timiş

These are some categories that do not have their diacriticals (they were created before Wikipedia switched to UTF). After the move they can be speedy deleted according to the policy (as misspelled categories). Thanks. bogdan | Talk 00:29, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

Hi, although they are speedy, they need a 48 hour notification. I have posted them on WP:CFD in the speedy section. «»Who?¿?meta 01:26, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Another request

I dumped a script at User talk:Whobot/tasks. It didn't have to do with the sports stuff (which I believe is done), so I didn't want to assume anything. The new stuff is airport cats from speedy (they were listed for at least two days then moved to cleanup). If you want me to do this another way, just let me know. I figure I'd help out since you're limited with access. --Kbdank71 19:21, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

Yea that's fine. I was thinking about the same thing earlier, if you want to put stuff in there to be done, I will run them. I am running between here and a friends server so I can keep it running as long as possible. «»Who?¿?meta 19:29, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
Oh yea, instead of the date, if u do the usual format, you can just put speedy instead. «»Who?¿?meta 19:30, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
Shiny! Do you want me to put new stuff in tasks or tasks talk? I figure it'd be better if you gave my additions a once over, just to make sure I haven't lost my mind at some point. Then again, you can probably check it before running whobot, so either way, it's up to you. --Kbdank71 19:37, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
:) I give them a rough over, and i look at them while its running and some when they are done. I have caught some of my own mistakes as well. Uhm, you can put them on the regular tasks, or on talk, i'll move them over. Also, if they cat already exists, like spanish bball, it will just merge with it, so you dont have to do it manually, unless you want :) I wish I had my pc.. I could do sooo much more. «»Who?¿?meta 19:39, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
Think of it as a mini vacation (or holiday as our British friends would say) :) The fort is being held. --Kbdank71 19:49, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] User:Please Don't Block

You got some way to get him/her to stop reverting the warnings? --Nlu 05:35, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

Not really. I was going to revert, but didn't see anything really harmful, atm. If too many warnings pile up, it may become an RFC though. Sometimes we keep track of them on a seperate page, or make an archive sub-page on their talk space. I will try to watch what is up, since they blantanly ignored my suggestions. «»Who?¿?meta 05:40, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] On-going vandalism

Diacrit (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · block user · block log) (blocked) - persistent user who creates numerous user names to remove Template:Foreignchar from various articles. Created user names include: User:Jeaijij, User:Agraman, User:Oagafauou, User:Qesecaue, User:Uefot, User:Huaelo, User:Bifo, User:Timoa, User:Feoouubiao, User:Eooaqinol, User:Xeuuces, and that's only ones I have caught on recent changes page. Most of them have only 1 edit. And the list keeps growing every second, just look at new user log!!! Please help. Renata3 22:35, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

Sorry it took awhile, blocked those listed. If you have anymore contact User:Fvw or User:Curps, they maybe able to block them faster or the IP range they are using. «»Who?¿?meta 23:39, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for blocking them, however, it did not help much. If you check Special:Whatlinkshere/Template:Foreignchar there is only talk pages left. When I checked it during the day, there was about 150-200 articles... I suspect that that person created tens (if not hundreds) of user names s/he vandalized... The new user log was just spammed during the day with new users that was his/hers socks. One should have blocked the whole IP... But I guess it's too late and now somebody needs to revert everything. I would love to make a list of the users to block & revert, but I have completely no time. Renata3 03:12, 5 November 2005 (UTC)
Hey. Sorry I couldnt do more, limited net access, plus we dont have access to the IP w/o checkuser. I will try to repair some of the damage, and make a list for my bot if there are a lot of articles. «»Who?¿?meta 03:17, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

Hey, it's ok. Thank you so much. I was just upset that the vandal got what s/he wanted. At least you are the one who cared :)

Anyways, I did a very stupid thing: instead of studying for my midterm at 9am tomorrow, I stayed till 3am, manually checked new user log from 13:16, 4 November 2005 to 02:55, 5 November 2005 to and came up with this sockpuppet list (it includes your blocked socks; there might be one or two mistakes or omissions). Somebody (I suppose you know more admins than I do) needs to block & revert them (most articles are not yet reverted):

[edit] Vandalism by 168.8.230.251

Hi, Have a look at the edit history of this user - it's been nothing but vandalism. I've removed the most recent of it but just realised that for older articles it's probably been removed already - so I'm reverting my reverts now in those cases. Could you issue a warning to the user? Dlyons493 Talk 01:52, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

OK I think I've now got back to the right versions. Sorry about that - I'd done a number of articles before it dawned on me that other people had probably cleaned them up already. Dlyons493 Talk 02:09, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Vw-n wording

People other than those in court make judgements, and on the other hand the origin of "deemed" is also in legal proceeedings -- it is related to "doomed" and once ment a fact determined by a legal process, if i am not mistaken. I think "deemed" souinds a little pretentios in this use, but otherwise does not alter the meaning at all. DES (talk) 02:02, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

That's actually why I chose the word, same meaning, mostly, but not as "offensive" I think. We are not judge and jury, we are just trying to cleanup vandalism, I think the word "judged" is just too strong and gives a false impression of what we are here to do. IMHO. «»Who?¿?meta 02:06, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
Copied to template talk pages for future clarification. «»Who?¿?meta 02:07, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
To me "deemed" is at least as strong, possibly stronger, plus it sounds a bit elitist. But mostly i think that such warning msgs, should be kept in relatively simple english, sienc they may well be addressed to non-native speakers. I think usign a more common word than "deemed" would be better. if you want to soften it, use "belived", but I stand behind "judged" -- the person who reverts vandalism makes a judgement that that is what the edit is. DES (talk) 02:10, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
I agree in both cases, easier and better wording, I just don't like the sound of judged. I just chose deemed to try to stay close to the meaning. Feel free to change it if you have a better word, I would just like to stay away from judged or deemed :) if possible. «»Who?¿?meta 02:12, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

I don't have checksum so I can't be 100% sure; you can go ahead and block indefinitely. [edit] Pearle update

I just posted new source code...

  • Hey, there's a new response when requesting the page. Yeah, I noticed that when Pearle stopped working. Definitely fixed now.
  • I created getCategoryImages(), probably in response to your note, and added it to depopulateCat().
  • The source has been upgraded to get all articles from a category, instead of just the first 200. I think this obviates the need to use Special:Whatlinkshere as you were. Those lists are sometimes inaccurate (due to a template-related bug - but then, so are category membership lists), and of course they might contain articles that are not actually in the category.

-- Beland 08:04, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

Hey thanks for the update. Yea I was only using the Special:Whatlinkshere for the image pages really (like that soccerball.png), not for the cats, just so I could get all those linked articles. Also, the articles sometimes have hardlinked cats that I prefer not to have automatically changed. I also just had it check for images all the time now, so I've been getting those ok, although I may use your code for that after I look at it. I'm incorportating the new "targetSafe" and "pageSafe" features and of course the article 200 limit fix, and some of the other minor fixes you added. I have so many updates of my own now, it's hard to keep track :) Thanks again. «»Who?¿?meta 17:24, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Trailer woes

Sorry to hear about your trailer. Are you eligible for any FEMA money? --Kbdank71 14:20, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

  • Yes, not sure how it's gonna work though. They said they will either give me a check or put me in temporary travel trailer housing (or both) within 10 days. So just 10 more days of living in a parking lot :) I've been looking at condo's for awhile, if I can get all my paperwork finalized, I would like to move into one within a few weeks, but mortgages aren't a fast process, nor is finding a condo in South Florida that allows motorcycles and dogs. I'm alive though, just don't have TV or net access, and those are the "important" things in life </sarcasm>. Finding an apartment down here is oh so fun. Thanks for the note, I didn't get much done with CFD, but it's nice that Bluemoose is helping out, I meant to drop him? (Martin) a thank you note. Er, I just remember I have'nt checked to see if you still needed me to add sort keys to those sport cats or not. «»Who?¿?meta 15:09, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

No, I'm fine, I think it should be protected for a while. [edit] RE: blantant vandal tags

Yes - I agree. In some cases, adding the {{bv}} may have been a bit harsh. I do also use the {{test}} templates and will attempt to be more fair with the user talk page warnings in the future. I guess I just got a little upset from a long day today and went directly to the {{bv}} template since I had multiple tabs with talk pages open and was doing a copy and paste assembly line like warning method. I think in most cases, with a few exceptions, my choices in warning templates have been appropriate. Sorry! --Randy 01:59, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] weird

something weird happened in the Red Eye movie article. the pic is very large and i can't change it, and when i checked the history, there aren't any changes made, except some minor changes from myself. what's going on? HoneyBee 22:19, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

I happened to notice this question. This edit to the Infobox Movie template apparently changed what needs to be passed in for the image (should now just be "image = Red_Eye_poster.JPG"). I've looked around a bit, and it seems at least most other movies already supply the image in this form. I'll update the Red Eye article. -- Rick Block (talk) 01:52, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the response Rick. Been a little buzy, hadn't had much chance to get on. Cheers. «»Who?¿?meta 17:41, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
Yeah - I noticed you've been a little scarce lately (no problem - I've been trying to keep up with CFD speedies). BTW - this template deal is a bigger problem than I thought. I've been through maybe 200 all of the first 500 references to the {{Infobox movie}} template and have found maybe 15 problem references. I don't know how many references there are altogether (thousands?), but it seems like it's going to take a long time to check them all. Fixing them sometimes involves adding a "image caption" parameter to the template as well. I thought about whipping up a script to fetch all the "what links here" and scan for problem articles, but I'm not sure it's actually worthwhile. If you have any thoughts on this please let me know. -- Rick Block (talk) 04:50, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
OK. I broke down and wrote a little script to fetch all the movie articles. I'm going through them looking for template problems. Should be done in not too long. -- Rick Block (talk) 05:30, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Changing category names has caused problems for interwiki

Hi, back in October, Whobot changed the names of a number of categories from "Airports of Country" to "Airports in Country". This has caused a problem where categories in wikipedias in other languages had interwikilinks to the categories that were changed. Namely, the links no longer work. I have fixed a couple (Airports in Sweeden and Aiprorts in Poland) but this obviously leaves a great many links in other language wikipedias that have broken links. Is there any way that your bot could possibly go through them and fix the broken links? (I'm guessing not since you would probably need permission from the other wikipedias to run your bot there...? Thought it was worth asking) -- Adz 11:52, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] general question on promo photos

I ask this in place of an unnecessarily detailed question I had up previously. In general when a contributor finds a photo of a band somewhere online, and the bottom of the photo shows the record label's name, so that it appears to be a promotional photo, do we need to hunt down any permissions for uploading it? I have always done that before, but someone else did not do that in an article I help edit.

A person whose talk page you've spoken on before seems to have found a promo photo on a webpage they listed (which no longer exists on the web but once did) in the photo tag. If a photo plainly displays the record company's name is that enough to determine it to be a promophoto or is there more involved, such as seeking permission from the source record company, photographer or group? It almost seems silly to ask someone if you can have permission to have a promophoto photo up as fair use because "promotional" seems to mean it's intended to be used by media, but anyway I've always thought I needed permission before. I will go try to get that from the source label and add it to the photo tag, if I obtain it, I guess. I won't be asking the band or its management because they were too confused by a query a year or so ago, and the label is simpler to talk to in this case. Emerman 14:29, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

So far the only person using it is a Euro-American. Maybe his great-great-great grandfather was one, but ...

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Katar.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Katar.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (bounties) 15:45, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] About Kiev

I have some problem when I edit Kiev. I want to add Beijing as one of Kiev's sister cities (Twin cities) in the table but I do not know how to add it. Also, I do not know to find who to help me. So, I randomly find an Administrator to help me. Please help me! If you want to know more about the sister cities of Beijing, you can go to Beijing and then go to the part of City and regional partnerships.Thank you!

[edit] you still around?

Hey - I've been real world distracted for a while, and looks like you have been as well. Are you still around? Seems like you don't have an email address set up. Please post something, if for no other reason than just to let folks know you're OK. -- Rick Block (talk) 05:09, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] making new articles/pages

I'd like to ask you, how do I make separate/new pages for a particular article? I've notice that Highlander movies article is very large and not handled very well. How do I help to separate this article like the ones with Star Trek, Star Wars, etc? Maybe as a moderator, you can help? Thanks. HoneyBee 03:48, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging for Image:Jesse_mccartney.jpg

[edit] Whobot/Pearlebot log in status clue shortage

Hi, I have a need to do some readonly access (not updating pages, at least not yet) to WP from within a perlscript I'm working on and thought using pearlebot/whobot might be a good starting point for the access and parsing utilities. I took a copy of whobot and am trying to call the utility routine getPage ... it has a check to see if the user is logged in or not. I changed it to my ID but since I'm running from the command line in a dosbox, I think I am not. This despite taking a copy of the fake cookie file and trying to change it around. I didn't quite follow how bots are logged in... is there a trick to being logged in? Thanks for any suggestions where to read! ++Lar: t/c 19:42, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Who has not apparently logged in since January 20. It looks like you're conversing with Beland about this, which is what I'd suggest in Who's absence. -- Rick Block (talk) 17:55, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
Indeed... I got quite a bit farther than this question (but still have more...) so it's no biggie that Who didn't answer. Thanks. ++Lar: t/c 23:19, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wonder what the policy is

Hey Joe Gotta Question. I was bopping around Wikipedia and visited one of the pages I previous helped out on. It is now up for deletion which really surprised me because the reason stated was that there were no citations for sources on the facts. But, there were more citations than I've seen on most pages. So I went to the discussion about the proposed deletion and it was pretty insane. One person called it a witch hunt. Seems one person has a big issue with the page and is going about trash talking and campaigning, misrepresenting facts, and all that nice stuff. What happens when a bully does that kind of thing? The guy seems whole bent on driving this page out of existence, which I'm neither here nor there about. It just seems wrong that its not for policy. Since Wikipedia isn't about policing, does that also mean that there are no rules for those who don't honor the honor system? 'this article's entry Brotherstork 03:07, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] He is Risen

Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!
our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
who did once upon the cross, Alleluia!
suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!

Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!
unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia!
who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia!

But the pains which he endured, Alleluia!
our salvation have procured, Alleluia!
now above the sky he's King, Alleluia!

where the angels ever sing. Alleluia!

[edit] Back?

Hi - I see you're doing some editing. Does this mean you're back? I added the "he's not likely to respond" banner that shows up at the bottom of this page (source is at the top of the page). If you're just "testing the water" and want to leave it for a while, that's OK with me. If you are back, you might want to delete it (and you may want to visit Wikipedia:Missing Wikipedians). I really don't want to pressure you, but you've been sorely missed and if you are back it will make me VERY happy. -- Rick Block (talk) 15:46, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Gabriel damon pd.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Gabriel damon pd.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Shannernanner 13:46, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Rose byrne.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Rose byrne.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Chowbok 02:44, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
