Whitehouse is a ward in the North-West of Ipswich, UK.

Much of the ex-council owned estate was built in the 1950s[citation needed]. Recent development included derelict fields adjacent to 'the rec' (Recreation Field) in the late 1980s and early 2000s. Early 2000 saw the Allotments divided up and redeveloped as recreational land. More recently development has included a lot of infill on Henniker and Bramford Road.

As of 2008 there is a slim Labour majority won by Councillor Anthony Lewis. The turnout in 2007 was 25.1% [1]

The area is the main catchment for Westbourne High School (Secondary), which is fed by Primary feeder schools, Springfield and Whitehouse Junior School.

A shopping arcade with ample parking. As of 2008, shops include a Co-op, Chip Shop, Hairdressers, Kebab Shop and Newsagents

[edit] The Flying Horse Public House

A Free House at the bottom of Waterford Road. Due to be partially demolished sometime during 2008 to make way for a new housing development at the rear.

[edit] Whitehouse Residents Association

Is a Community Centre/Social Club for individuals and families from the local area. It requires an annual membership, but as a social club is not run for profit and so drinks and events are affordable.

To meet the demands for housing in Ipswich more infill is planned along Bramford Road.
