George Whitefield, the eighteenth-century English evangelist closely associated with the Great Awakening in North America. Whitefield is remembered for his courageous and influential proclamation of the gospel across denominational, geographic, and socioeconomic lines. Students will be inspired to learn that Whitefield was able to accomplish and contribute much even as a very young man. Like its namesake, Whitefield Academy hopes to inaugurate a new era of excellence, integrity, and responsibility in Christian teaching, awakening future generations to the highest order of academic achievement and Christ-inspired leadership.

Whitefield Academy's Philosophy: 1. Whitefield Academy intends that its students will be rigorous life-long learners who expect the best of themselves without compromise. 2. It intends that its students make their life decisions as evangelical Christians without apology. 3.And, Whitefield Academy seeks to instill in its students a clear desire to have a positive impact on their friends, families, professions and communities.

Accreditation Whitefield Academy is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the Georgia Accrediting Commission, and National Association of Independent Schools and their local and regional affiliates. Whitefield Academy is also a member of the Association of Christian Schools International.

History After two years of careful planning and prayer, Whitefield Academy opened its doors as a new school on August 25, 1997, with 96 students in grades 6-12. The founding Board of Trustees consisted of: David Jones (Chairman), Betsy Akers, Jack Camarda, John Dail, David Deeter, Wallace Francis, Gordy Germany, Joe Hamilton III, Matt Hawkins, Marty McDevitt, Larry Powell, Patty Renfroe, Stacy QuirĂ³s, Jack Sibley, and Chad Zimmerman. The move to the new campus was made in time for the opening of school in August, 2000.
