White Star is a brand of white cider produced in Somerset, England by the Gaymer Cider Company. It is a cider with an alcohol content of 7.5%. It is a favourite amongst the homeless and students, due to its low price, neutral taste and high alcohol content.[1] Due to its packaging, whereby the A is replaced by a star-symbol, it has become known to many simply as White STR.
Its main competition is from other low cost, white ciders such as White Lightning, Diamond White and Frosty Jacks, as well as other cheap alcoholic drinks such as Skol Super and supermarket branded beers like Tesco Super and Asda Super.
It is available in 500 ml cans, as well as 1 and 2 litre bottles and is traditionally served over ice.
