White Owl Winery

White Owl Winery is a commercial winery located in Lawrence County near Birds, Illinois. It was founded in 2000 by Brian, Joy, Ken, and Pat Neighbors. It has received good reviews[1][2] and won the 2007 Illinois Governor’s Cup for Best Dessert Wine[3]. The winery focuses on fruit wines such as Cherry Pie, Spiced Pear, Elderberry, Paw Paw, and Persimmon. Their Paw Paw wine is the only one commercially produced in the world.[1] They also make traditional grape wines such as Merlot, Chardonnay, Vidal Blanc, Snowy White, and Traminetteas, as well as sparkling wines. Persimmon Solera (formerly Grand Persimmon Sherry[4]) won the 2007 Illinois Governor’s Cup for Best Dessert Wine in the state.[3]
