White Lady White Powder
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
White Lady White Powder is a song by Elton John with lyrics written by Bernie Taupin. It is the fifth track of his 1980 album, 21 at 33. Instrumentally, it is upbeat, and the mellow mix between soft rock, pop and distorted guitars which sums up most of the album's sound, is at its fullest on this track.
The song is, obviously, written about cocaine, and a man who's in love with a woman who is using cocaine most of the time. He is in love with her, so he can't just quit cocaine. At the time, Elton was using cocaine himself and continued doing that until the late 80's, so long-time fans see this as an ironic song. It is one of the very few songs regarding drugs in his career, and only one out of two from that period with the mentioning of cocaine.
