Whitchurch, Pembrokeshire

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Whitchurch (Welsh: Tregroes, "Settlement of the Cross") is a hamlet (place) and parish (Welsh: Plwy'r Groes, "Parish of the Cross") in north-western Pembrokeshire, West Wales.

It is 2 km from the coast, and 5 km east of St David's. The hamlet includes the parish church, but only a few houses, the main settlement in the parish being Solva.

By the churchyard gate is a standing stone called Maen Dewi, believed to be the lower part of a large Celtic cross.

The parish of Whitchurch, together with the parish of St Elvis, make up the community of Solva.
