"Whine Country" is the twenty-fifth and last episode of the second season of the sitcom The King of Queens. It originally aired on CBS on May 22, 2000.
Doug and Carrie both have very specific ideas on how to spend their vacation together. Doug wants to rent an RV, while Carrie prefers a visit to Paris. They flip a coin, and Doug wins. In order to make Doug reconsider his idea, Carrie invites her father on the cross-country trip. She assumes that Doug would not want to spend his vacation in a confined space with the old man. However, to spite her, Doug not only agrees to take Arthur along, but invites Spence as well. Doug and Carrie end up spending their holidays alone at home, while Spence and Arthur take the trip on their own.
[edit] Other characters
- Deacon Palmer and his wife Kelly appear briefly.
- Dan Desmond plays the RV driver who inspires Doug to rent such a vehicle himself.
- Tyler Hendrickson can be seen as young Doug Heffernan in a flashback scene. It is his first of seven guest appearances on the show.
[edit] Cultural references
- The episode title is a wordplay on Wine Country, in the context of this episode alluding to both France, Carrie's desired holiday location, and the whining surrounding the decision making process.
- The final scene of some person off-camera observing Arthur and Spence from afar is an allusion to the 1972 movie Deliverance, including some of the movie's well-known musical theme Dueling Banjos.
[edit] Other countries
- Germany Title of the dubbed episode: Traumurlaub (Dream vacation). First air date: June 7, 2001 (RTL II).
