[edit] RE:Arisedrink blanking pages

Well, I appreciate you coming to me with this issue. It's obvious that Arisedrink is nothing but a little vandal. As far as him blanking his own talk page, I don't think we can do anything about it as it is his talk page and there are rules about that sort of thing. However, I will take this to an admin I know and ask him for more info just in case. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 22:05, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] KAL 007 citation needed

WhisperToMe, I need your comment and advice. I am having difficulty finding the citation for this - "All of these items [listed in the text] came from only one section of KAL 007 - the passenger cabin including the 747's distinctive hump. Nothing appeared on the beaches from the cargo area below - such as packing crates, luggage, electoric equipment, sports and musical equipment etc.[citation needed]" I will try a bit more. But I think that you are requesting the citation for the last part about nothing appearing from the cargo area, rather than all the first part about all that was recovered and it being from the cabin area. I do have the citation for that. Am I correct that the citation request is for the last part? If I can't find it after a bit, I would be content with just supplying the citation for the first partBert Schlossberg (talk) 19:21, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

I don't know what the sources were for the addition of the infoboxes, but they use US Census data; ask the operator of CapitalBot, which used the Census for the information it put in the infoboxes. Nyttend (talk) 02:54, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Here's a source. Sort the table by NAMES, and in column C (the county column) you'll see that parts of Garland are listed as being in counties 85, 113, and 397. Next, go to the list of counties in Texas to check the FIPS codes (left side column in the table), and you'll see that the counties with these FIPS codes are Collin, Dallas, and Rockwall. Following the links from a CfD, I noticed this comment you left on the page of a newbie user. As per WP:BITE, please consider refactoring that comment (as understandable as your frustration is). Noroton (talk) 16:26, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Well, the "category" will certainly be deleted, the new editor is going to be very disappointed, maybe even a little outraged to see his work go down the tubes (I know I was when it first happened to me). I looked quickly and got the impression the editor wanted to add this information to the high school article but you objected to that (for lack of citations, right?), and it looks like the editor hasn't added it back. So is there anything really urgent here? If you're sure you want to make that comment, then "please respond" would probably work better than "pay attention", IMHO. Cheers, Noroton (talk) 17:34, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Osaka-Kobe-Kyoto -> Keihanshin

When performing the above stated move, you have accidentally separated the article from its talk page, resulting in a talk page at both the current article's location (Talk:Keihanshin) and at the redirect's location (Talk:Osaka-Kobe-KyotoKeihanshin). Can you fix this? Thanks! JPG-GR (talk) 05:25, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Death Note

I'd like to work on getting all of that creation information reformatted and trimmed down for now, as I tried before I left. Currently, the information is just thrown down onto the articles without any real format or regard for importance. Examples include the notes of L's design in three different places at once and a trivial little note about a fighting style (that's the kind of info for a Death Note wiki). After that, I'd like to go on to merging those articles back to the main one if true reception cannot be found, but that can be worried about later. Is this something we can work out? TTN (talk) 21:29, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Okay, I already have some reception for Light, L, and Misa (as of writing she has the most). I suppose I could find more (maybe related to the film) - In addition the person who reviewed the episodes that have L, Light, and Misa in them has not reviewed the ones with Near and Mello yet, so I suppose he will give reception relating to those characters when he gets to those. Also when the films are released in the USA more people will review it and it will be easier to add more reception to the film versions of the characters.

Regarding information in different places, reorganizing is fine. Which sentences should I group together?

Regarding information like the fighting style, what is best is to ask on the talk page and see if the information belongs in the article. The Death Note Wikia now exists, so I suppose this could be transferred there if there is a consensus that the "capoeira" fighting style bit is not encyclopedic. WhisperToMe (talk) 21:35, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

The current reception is fairly lackluster at this point. IGN really isn't that great of a site for anime reviews, especially if they're only from one person (unless the anime and manga project has had some large discussion on it that I never saw or something). That's not to say that it wouldn't work as supplemental information, but it's pretty much filler on it's own. It just doesn't support wide standing notability. Other specific information can be mixed in well elsewhere if that's all there is at the moment.
It's not just about rearranging the information. It's about combining it to have it flow well, removing the whole "X said, Y said" formatting. Take a look at the revision I made to the list a while ago, if you can find it, to see what I mean. TTN (talk) 21:46, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Which sites would make more meaningful anime commentary? Surely one of them would have reviewed Death Note too and I would find commentary specific to characters. That would be great as it could maybe show differing perspectives in the anime and/or manga portrayals of the characters. The main reason why I had X said, Y said is that the information is from a primary or quasi-primary source, but if consensus deems that not needed I could trim that down. However there were two people involved so it helps to explain which person made which decisions. IMO stuff that is definately in the Wikia territory is in-universe content that is very specific to the series.
I'll go through this revision [2] and evaluate it in a bit... WhisperToMe (talk) 21:54, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Regarding the revision, I believe that the general style is fine but that it should strive to keep as much information as possible that is non-trivial. For instance, the following were missing in the TTN revision:
Fact that Ohba had created "Ryuzaki" alias excluded - the reasoning for the alias is still there, but it does not mention Ohba made the decision
That Obata made L's appearance contrast to Light's and that Obata and Ohba held the idea is not there.
Ohba including ideas in the thumbnails after leaving the design to Obata
What I would suggest is to reorganize but in a way that keeps the information. If you feel a bit is trivial remove it and place the quote on the talk page so we could discuss how and why it is trivial and see what other editors think. WhisperToMe (talk) 22:04, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
That's one of the main problems with trying to get good reception sections going for single characters. Sites like IGN and the like are good for breading (the information from them shouldn't be more than a sentence or two), but there is hardly any meat out there. I have yet to see any anime or DVD review site that amounts to anything more than amateur/fan writing, and even using those hardly builds an accurate reception section that truly shows how the character is notable. Maybe the project has some good links?
I understand the mindset of that, but it's really just unnecessary and it really leaves out any potential for FA-style writing. The point is to take the thoughts of those two and combine them into one nicely worded section that leaves a good impression of what they're trying to get across. That's what I tried to do in my revision. Though, note that was only the first pass (that's why I missed including some of the information mentioned above also). The final version would probably be much better. TTN (talk) 22:07, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, the reason why I chose IGN is that the site is very prominent (think of Rotten Tomatoes, which is now owned by IGN) and that the reviewer is a staff member of the site. There are probably other sites like this which have notability and prominent reviewers, but I am not sure where they are. Do you think the best step is to try paring down reception sections of individual characters and posting the revisions in the talk pages? Maybe people will see whether the revisions work. WhisperToMe (talk) 22:18, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
I would certainly say that it's very prominent in the area of video game reviews, which would allow for something the size of Misa's reception to be placed in a game article, but when it comes to everything else, it's more of a footnote. It's mentioned in reception sections of some of our television show and film FAs, but it never has much weight. The same should go for anime as well, I imagine.
I guess that would be a decent method, but I really think the best thing to do in this case would be to combine trimmed versions of all of the current character articles back into the one list, and work towards a style similar to Characters of Carnivàle. Then after the information is complied, it'll give a good view of the necessary weight of the characters, and allow for nice compact articles to be split off again, if it comes to that. But, if we're just working to get the current articles trimmed and formatted, the former idea works fine. TTN (talk) 22:31, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
What we could do is see if we can merge back Near (Death Note) and Mello (Death Note) after information is consolidated. IMO for now the current articles should be formatted well. WhisperToMe (talk) 23:25, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
I guess I'll attempt it sometime today or tomorrow then. If you have concerns about them, can you try to edit them to your liking instead of just reverting right back? If they have to be flipped completely turned around a few times, that's fine, but that's better than going back to square one. TTN (talk) 00:02, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:MokubaKaiba.PNG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:MokubaKaiba.PNG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Iwate Prefectural Board of Education

Thank you for creating Iwate Prefectural Board of Education. BTW, I found you moved Iwate Prefectural Morioka First High School to Morioka First High School. Do you have any special reason? Because this school says its official English name is Iwate Prefectural Morioka First High School. It's kind of confusing because Morioka Third High School says its official is "~Third", but in my opinion, as long as they say "Dai ichi" is an official, it's more appropriate to use the original one. --Tomo_suzuki ( talk ) 22:09, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

This problem is common in California and Florida, and it appears in Oregon and Washington too. [edit] Moonshine Hill, Houston, Texas

A tag has been placed on Moonshine Hill, Houston, Texas, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. TheVaultDweller (talk) 01:32, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

  • I may have labelled hastily - However, I believe that the article should be expanded - All of these pages with a few words talking about various districts do not seem important to wikipedia. However, this is my opinion, and I understand others may oppose it. Otherwise, please do not take personal shots against me. I have ONE note about mis-tagging, which was one of my first ever tags. TheVaultDweller (talk) 01:36, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
    • Alright, So I see the error in marking the page off. I guess it could be expanded. Sorry about the hasty tagging, and sorry for any trouble caused. Have a good one, Mate. TheVaultDweller (talk) 01:41, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
      • Done. Sorry, I thought I already took it off. Good to see there are some nice people around wikipedia. Anyways, I won't bother you much more, so... See you around, hopefully! TheVaultDweller (talk) 01:45, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Don't do tha, please

Please don't reverse an administrative action without discussion. You said "I'm going to have to immediately restore this page" - not you don't have to! You don't immediately have to do anything, and there's no harm in waiting a few hours and discussing it. My deletion was perfectly proper, it was a negative wholly unsourced biography, and such things may be summarily deleted under WP:BLP. It clearly violated BLP in every previous version. The onus isn't on me source it - unsourced negative material gets removed, period. The onus is on the person wanting it to source it (as you have done). If you had had the courtesy to discuss this with me, I would have indicated that had no problem restoring the article if you wished immediately to source it to comply with BLP. But you always discuss with the deleting admin first. Please do not do that again, the last person to reverse my BLP related deletions was put under an arbcom restriction. However, on this occasion there is no harm done.--Docg 09:47, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Great job on the articles for the Death Note characters

I've noticed these articles for a while, and am always impressed with the amount of work editors contributing to anime or video game character articles put into them. As someone who has added real-world impact/ notability to several soap opera character articles, with many more to go, I always appreciate character articles that already have that (one or the other, or both). It's great to go to a character article and see more than just plot. I just stopped by the Near (Death Note) article to see if he's L's son, and enjoyed reading the creation and concept for him. I wish he was L's son, though. Him and Mello (Death Note). A least one of the creators thought about making them L's sons. I started watching that show online (in Japanese) first, then got behind when my computer broke down (though both of my computers are currently broke down at the moment; been using PlayStation 3 to communicate online) and now I've been watching from the beginning (in English) on television.

Anyway, take care. Flyer22 (talk) 06:11, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

I see that you have created new school district stubs. It would be wonderful if you could use {{school-stub}} instead of just the basic stub template. Also, you may want to consider taking pictures of the schools, if you so wish.

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:SaintSeiyaLogoUS.PNG)

Thanks for uploading Image:SaintSeiyaLogoUS.PNG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:05, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your note

I don't think that navboxes are bad as a whole. I do think that to include a TV guide navbox in an accident article is inappropriate. It is large, ugly, and mostly irrelevant to the accident. Crum375 (talk) 02:17, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] School Photos

I'm still working on a close-up of Ball HS (see the comment I left on my talk page), but yesterday when I drove by, school had just let out, and I couldn't stop to take a photo.

I did upload a photo of the old Dominican HS to Wiki Commons. [4]. If you can think of anywhere it might fit in (former schools section?) by all means, use it. :-)

Gonna try to head by Ball in a bit and try again at getting a close-up photo. --Nsaum75 (talk) 19:42, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Mook (author)

A tag has been placed on Mook (author) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. – ThatWikiGuy (talk | life | I'm watching you!) 11:16, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 02:57, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

The article consistently listed it as "Field Store", which is why I changed it. If that is incorrect, please move it back and fix the article to reflect the correct spelling. Also, I see that you've created a lot of Texas stubs. If you've got more of those create, could you please go ahead and rate them as stub class/low importance on the WP Texas banner? [edit] fr:La Vie de Rocko Moderne

Hey. I haven't used French in writing for ages let alone speaking but I'll see if I can start up a stub at least. For its title, do other languages use it's original title? or is it in their native language like above^? You may want to get someone else to make it then. Oh and on a side note, I used to have a name like yours but it was Whisper to You. :) −₪ÇɨгcaғucɨҲ₪ kaiden 01:49, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi. You may have already noticed that the interwiki bot added the French vers. of RML. Maybe you know someone who could of done this? ;) I somewhat cheated a little on that version. There were a few words I didn't know exactly how to use but at least we have something now. :) So my work is done. Also, it would be nice to have a rocko wiki, but I just don't see myself starting such a thing. I'm sorry. :( P.S. you can respond here I'll watch your talk page for a few days. −₪ÇɨгcaғucɨҲ₪ kaiden 07:05, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed deletion of Lexington & Richland County School District Five

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Lexington & Richland County School District Five, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Latiligence (talk) 13:10, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Lexington & Richland County School District Five

Just to let you know, when you're going to contest a proposed deletion, please do not add the {{hangon}} tag. That tag is only for use with speedy deletions. Just remove the prod tag to contest it. That's all there is to it. SchuminWeb (Talk) 18:51, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Pai Ping-ping

My issue with the page was that it did nothing to assert her notability. It essentially said "Pai Ping-ping is an actress from Taiwan, Republic of China. For a period she had married Ikki Kajiwara. She had a daughter Pai Hsiao-yen." That was completely what it covered, in very few more words. Acting doesn't by definition establish notability, or there would an article for Ciara Hughes. I have no objection to the article returning if it at least contains enough to guide the reader to her notability, but as it existed, it said nothing. What work did she do, what TV shows, what films, what is she known for? Just undeleting it doesn't help it. Wildhartlivie (talk) 19:38, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Pai Ping-ping has been undeleted as per your request. Notice that as written at the deletion point, it did not assert notability and had no RS, nor any editor requested a hangon. That is not to say that it cannot be asserted of course. If you feel it can get to that point I see no problem with it. Cheers. -- Alexf42 21:09, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Feedback

Hey Whisper, I took your advice and opened a discussion on the E.O. Green School shooting talk page with the reliable source (link) I provided you with. Could you please give me some feedback? CadenS (talk) 23:57, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

"Hmm - AFAIK NPOV is not so much about balancing the content as ensuring that the article itself doesn't take a stance." Hmm..interesting because the article DOES take a stance. Alright, I get it now. So, in other words, it's your biased POV that wins around here. Interesting. CadenS (talk) 02:40, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Rough draft

Like I said on my talk page I'm gonna have to skip the fancy livery of the aircraft because of limitations with gif files. This is a really, REALLY, rough draft but it shows all the parts which will be visible in the final and I wanted to get your input on the colors used. (In the final I plan on having the nose wheel turn and additional lights/construction equipment, and different camera perspectives.) Anynobody 00:44, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

I think I'm gonna have to just animate the takeoff/crash sequence. This preview is like 5 megs, doing the whole thing from push back to crash would probably be around 15 - 20, wheras I think just the crash would be in the neighborhood of 5 at a higher resolution. Anynobody 02:25, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

In response to your question-

"[1] - Which episode is this? WhisperToMe (talk) 02:57, 10 May 2008 (UTC)"

I wish I could remember-it's the one where Rocko's favorite shirt is stolen, and he frantically tries to get it back. All I can remember is how Rocko kept the shirt in an ultra-secure underground vault, and at the end he met another wallaby old enough to be his grandfather, who said "this old rag? It's the family colors!" in reference to his shirt, which was exactly the same as the one owned by Rocko, which led Rocko to initially think the other wallaby was the one who stole his shirt. I haven't seen the actual show in at least fifteen years.

[edit] School Districts Notability

In response to this comment on my talk page, could you please provide more information to support the assertion that school districts are notable per se? A policy, guideline, previous discussion on the matter, anything? I see notability guidelines for individual schools, but not anything relating to school districts themselves. [edit] Memorial High School

SBISD designates feeder schools for the school district. For example, if you go to Wilchester Elementary, you go to Memorial Junior High and then you are fed into Stratford. A private school is not a feeder school for any school in SBISD, just like a public school is not a feeder school for a private one. To say otherwise implies some kind of connection or coordination between the schools, when there is none. Besides, given the fact that Memorial is only grades 9-12, every student there attended a different school before they attend Memorial, so the fact that one student is cited as attending a different school before going to Memorial may be verifiable, but it is not particularly noteworthy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.80.94.228 (talk) 18:07, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:AnnaKyoyama1.PNG}

Thank you for uploading Image:AnnaKyoyama1.PNG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] Diplomatic missions article

Hi Whisper to Me:

I notice you have started to recategorise countries in Diplomatic missions of the Republic of China and Diplomatic missions of Mexico

Earlier we had considered doing exactly the same thing, to make it reflect the UN Geocode scheme (which your edits roughly follow in taxonomy and nomenclature, albeit only for Asia). However it would be a considerable amount of work to do, and we would rather have a consistent style in these articles than make piecemeal changes.

There are 180+ such articles - do you really want to undertake all these changes?

Kransky (talk) 01:35, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

Good to see some initiative. But before you continue could you please add your suggestion to Category talk:Diplomatic missions by country? You should check out the UN Geocode template - it is also used in the articles for airline destinations by country.
I notice that you have only done the changes for Asia - if we are going to subcategorise countries we should do it for all continents, or not at all. Kransky (talk) 02:25, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
If we are going to be consistent we should be consistent for all continents. But I suspect after you have modified the 40th article you will be asking yourself what value does this recategorisation bring? Myself and others have worked on this articles for some time, and we do not feel it is necessary. Kransky (talk) 02:41, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Under the Geoscheme you would have one category for the Americas, then 'Northern America', 'Latin America' and the Caribbean'. Please refer to the United Nations geoscheme.
Could I suggest you do a few more, then seek consensus from other editors who have contributed here for some time. If we are going to make such a major change there would need to be consensus. I would welcome recategorising the continents, but only if it is done correctly. Kransky (talk) 03:08, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I reverted your edit to the above article, but I'm curious as to where you got such information. It's not a novel. And aren't admins, especially, supposed to write edit summaries? --dfg (talk) 06:38, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Okay, thanks for that explanation on the edit summaries, but it could be controversial (or perhaps more accurately, simply incorrect) to claim a book is a work of fiction when it's not, James Frey notwithstanding. And I'm certain you already know this, but "novel" is not synonymous with "book"; a novel is a work of fiction. As far as the bit that you removed goes, I am going to put it back but with changes, because I agree, "helpful" is POV and doesn't belong. Thanks for your time. --dfg (talk) 04:19, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Manway (talk) 02:02, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Not sure when I plan on returning - probabaly next reunion time which should be next year or so. I'll be happy to take some pictures for the articles when I'm there.

Thanks again. Manway (talk) 02:10, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] KDCA

Thanks for the clarification re the state-location of DCA. I erroneously trusted that the USPS' use of "DC" in routing mail to on-airport addresses signified the airport was in DC, not VA. PSuskind (talk) 15:19, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Elementary schools

<from my talk page> Karanacs, whenever a school gets a Blue Ribbon, it is a sign of notability. I will have to undo the four elementary school merges. Next time, when you see a Blue Ribbon, please start a talk page discussion first. WhisperToMe (talk) 19:51, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

A merge does not mean that the article is not notable on its own, but that there is not enough info to make a good article. I left a talk page message on at least one school before I merged and got no response after a week. The school district article already contained that information. If more info can be found in independent reliable sources, then the article should definitely be stand-alone; at this time there doesn't seem to be any. Karanacs (talk) 19:53, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Kotonoha

I'm not claiming in the article that she's one of the most well known, I'm just assuming this due to recent activity in the anime world. And even if I am wrong, she's still a prominent yandere figure, and comes up in all the yandere topics I've seen. Also, I know we're cracking harder on fair-use, but it's not like WP:FUC is being violated by using a fair use image as an example which references the prose used in the article.-- 23:30, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Criterion 8 at WP:FUC for significance, or necessity, is under dispute, so while some may argue that having Kotonoha there is a violation, others won't. Plus, it's the only image in the article. I'd agree if two fair-use images were being used and remove one, but not when there's only one, and this being Kotonoha too.-- 03:44, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Saavedra

Any information you can find. There's not enough personal history. Maybe there's none out there to be had, but if there is, it would fill out the article nicely. Check local news sources I guess.

Calebrw (talk) 19:07, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

I am not personally familiar with him or any of the things he's done which is why I didn't want to do any extensive editing. I would say that anything major (that's made the news) he's done, championing a drug-free programs for example. That kind of thing. Also, if possible, you could like to content in the Houston ISD wiki page, but I don't know if there is content already there. — Calebrw (talk) 19:45, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] could you please do me a favor?

Hello,

I am a master student at the Institute of Technology Management, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. Currently I am wrapping up my master thesis titled “Can Wikipedia be used for knowledge service?” In order to validate the knowledge evolution maps of identified users in Wikipedia, I need your help. I have generated a knowledge evolution map to denote your knowledge activities in Wikipedia according to your inputs including the creation and modification of contents in Wikipedia, and I need you to validate whether the generated knowledge evolution map matches the knowledge that you perceive you own it. Could you please do me a favor?

  1. I will send you a URL link to a webpage on which your knowledge evolution map displays. Please assign the topic (concept) in the map to a certain cluster on the map according to the relationship between the topic and clusters in your cognition, or you can assign it to ‘none of above’ if there is no suitable cluster.
  2. I will also send a questionnaire to you. The questions are related to my research topic, and I need your viewpoints about these questions.

The deadline of my thesis defense is set by the end of June, 2008. There is no much time left for me to wrap up the thesis. If you can help me, please reply this message. I will send you the URL link of the first part once I receive your response. The completion of my thesis heavily relies much on your generous help.

Sincerely
