[edit] Image Tagging Image:Ultimate_Sabretooth.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Ultimate_Sabretooth.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --OrphanBot 12:13, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

- Its is a preview art, but I'm not sure if it is a cover to Ultimate X-Men #11. I think it may be an unused cover, or an alternative cover for the french version of the issue since most french sites that Ive visited has this image listed as their preview for Ultimate X-Men #11. I've added the sources and links to the image summary.[1](Whipsandchains 06:27, 29 January 2006 (UTC))

Thanks for uploading Image:Marvelzombies5 2ndprint.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 22:09, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Hey, saw you're with Captain America! Me too. I just started the Solo Articel (Marvel Comics Character.), And was wondering if you could help me add some information on him (Images, stub notices, links). Thanks. RatherBeBiking 00:51, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- Hello there. Hmmm, I'm not sure I can help much on this article. The first time I've heard of Solo was when he was in the New Six-pack in Cable & Deadpool. I can get pictures of his latest appearances in that series if you want.--whipsandchains 03:29, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Civilwaranti.jpg)
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Civilwaranti.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. The main issue is that it would be easy to create a free alternative to this image, therefore it fails fair use policy on the first criterion. Hope that helps explain. [edit] Re:Trieu Thi Trinh
Most, if not all, of Vietnam's written records were confiscated by China during the 20-year Chinese domination in 1407-1427. The oldest extant annals, the Đại Việt Sử Ký Toàn Thư (Complete annals of Great Viet), was written during the Le Dynasty. I can see a paragraph referencing her:
- The Mậu Thìn year, [248], (11th year of Hán Diên Hy (Han Yanxi); 1st year of Ngô Vĩnh An (Wu ??)). The people of Cửu Chân again attacked citadels, the prefecture was in rebellion. The Wu king appointed the "Hành Dương" aid-de-camp Lục Dận [Lu Yin] (some books say Lục Thương) to [some position that I can't translate]. Dận arrived, used the people's respect for him to call them to lay down arms, people surrendered, numbering more than 30,000 households, and the prefecture was once again peaceful. Afterwards, a woman from the Cửu Chân commandery named Triệu Ẩu assembled people and attacked several commanderies (Ẩu has breasts 3 thước [1.2 m] long, tied them behind her back, often rides elephants to fight). Dận was able to subdue [her]. (Giao Chỉ records only write: In the mountains of Cửu Chân commandery there is a woman with the surname Triệu, with breasts 3 thước long, unmarried, assembled people and robbed the commanderies, usually wearing yellow tunics, feet wearing shoes with curved fronts, and fights while sitting on an elephant's head, becoming an immortal after she dies).
I'll ask over at the Vietnamese Wikipedia if they can find any earlier references. DHN 00:30, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- The confiscation of records are what Vietnamese annals say, I'm not sure what Chinese records say about it. I'm not sure that my translation is accurate, since I'm translating it from a Vietnamese translation of the Chinese original. Perhaps you can find an online copy of it in its original Chinese? zh:大越史記全書. DHN 02:26, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, thanks for correcting the error in my translation. The text said the first year of "Ngô Vĩnh An" but the annotation said it's an error, and should correspond to 11th year of "Xích Ô" (Chiwu). DHN 02:47, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Cửu Chân (九真, Lezhen) is a place name in Vietnam, and it might be the "nine barbarians" you were referring to in your translation. It's feasible that the Bandits in Cangwu are referring to Trieu, but it's in modern-day China, not Vietnam. Does the text refer to all rebellions as "bandits"? 3000 people seems like a huge organization if their only purpose is to rob from people. DHN 03:55, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- According to vi.wiki, Cửu Chân (九真) during Han times was part of Giao Châu (交州). During Eastern Wu times, it was divided into Cửu Chân and Cửu Đức. After a split in 226 and a subsequent merging during the Eastern Wu, Giao Châu consisted of 6 commanderies: Giao Chỉ (交趾), Tân Xương, Vũ Bình, Cửu Chân (九真), Cửu Đức and Nhật Nam (日南). Thương Ngô (蒼梧) was put in Guangzhou. Only Giao Chỉ, Cửu Chân, and Nhật Nam are in modern-day Vietnam. All Vietnamese accounts of Trieu Thi Trinh claim that she was born in Thanh Hoa province, which was part of Cửu Chân. You might find some more information at the zh.wiki articles: zh:交州 and Cửu Chân zh:九真郡. I think that the accounts are appropriate to put in the main page. DHN 05:20, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:Ult_adventures3.jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Ult_adventures3.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 04:24, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Bad fair use of Image:Ult adventures3.jpg
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Ult adventures3.jpg, by Videmus Omnia (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Ult adventures3.jpg is an image with a clearly invalid fair use tag; or it is an image that fails some part of the non-free content criteria and the uploader has been given 48 hours' notification (for images uploaded after 2006-07-13) or seven days' notification (for images uploaded before that date). (CSD I7).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Ult adventures3.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it did not nominate Image:Ult adventures3.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 18:22, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Ghostrider1.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Ghostrider1.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Unspecified source for Image:Vulcandg5.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Vulcandg5.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:07, 8 November 2007 (UTC). [edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ultsecret3.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Ultsecret3.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Ultimate Sabretooth.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Ultimate Sabretooth.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ricky81682 (talk) 04:25, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Ivan-shaw.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Ivan-shaw.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 17:23, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
