[edit] Dubious

The claim that White Pigeon is the oldest incorporated village in the state of Michigan seems a little dubious. First InfoMI is not a particularly reliable source, in many cases it merely copies information without attribution from other websites, including Wikipedia. http://www.usacitiesonline.com/micountywhitepigeon.htm is also not a particularly reliable source. Other current villages in the state also incorporated in 1837, such as Clinton, Lenawee County, Michigan -- without any more specific date provided, what is the basis for claiming precedence? And the claim appears to be based on the distinction of being incorporated after Michigan became a state. There are certainly many municipalities that incorporated prior to statehood, although it would take some work to determine whether any are villages. olderwiser 14:55, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

I am not from the area, so can not verify the history with additional references. Perhaps someone from the area could come up with additional and more reliable sources.--Doug talk 17:32, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
