[edit] Composition

"Where Are We Runnin'?" is an uptempo rock song. Kravitz wrote the song inspired by contemporary rock musicians' lives, describing them as busy and worried.

[edit] Chart performance

The song did regular in U.S. Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number sixty-nine and was Kravitz's first successful song in the United States since "Fly Away". However, it reached top twenty in the United World Chart, peaking at number eighteen and number three in Argentina, with a run of fifteen weeks. [1]

[edit] Music video

The music video for "Where Are We Runnin'?" was directed by Philip Andelman and Lenny Kravitz. Kravitz tries to perform a common rock musician life, in the video. It starts with Kravitz waking up with some girls around, in a hotel room. After he gets up, he takes a limousine which takes him to the airport. Inside the private jet, Kravitz, his band and the girls are shown having fun. Kravitz and the band arrive, and then they are shot doing a stage performance of the song. The video ends up with Kravitz in an exhaust mood, in front of a mirror, in the dressing room.

[edit] Trivia

  • In the music video, while Kravitz is in the elevator, his song, "It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over", is being played as the ambient music for the elevator.
  • Model and actress Alyssa Sutherland appears in the music video[2].
  • In an interview with Rolling Stone, R&B band Maroon 5 describe their "most epic quarrel" as an argument between Adam Levine and James Valentine concerning the final shot of the music video for "Where Are We Runnin'?"[3].
