When Your Heart Stops Beating is the title of +44's debut album, which was released on November 14, 2006. The album was made available in three different colors: blue, pink, and green. The album sold 7,753 copies in the United Kingdom and 87,000 copies worldwide in the first week of its release according to Mediatraffic.

On October 19, 2006, When Your Heart Stops Beating debuted at #22 on the ARIA Albums Chart,# 2 on the Rock Albums Chart. In the U.S., the album debuted at #10 on the Billboard 200 with about 66,000 copies sold in its first week.[1] As of May 2008 the album has sold 305,000 copies in U.S. and 508,475 copies worldwide (according to worldwidealbums.net).

  • Excluding bonus tracks, the album is exactly 44 minutes long. Although the cumulative running time of each track of the album clocks 43:54 minutes, an extra 6 seconds of silence is added throughout the album to give this final running time.
  • Carol Heller recorded backing vocals on the demos of "Weatherman", "No It Isn't", and "Cliff Diving" and sang some vocals of the demo of "Make You Smile", but on the final album recordings of When Your Heart Stops Beating, the backing vocals of "Weatherman", "No It Isn't", and "Cliff Diving" were re-recorded by Craig Fairbaugh.[citation needed]
  • The album was released in the United States on Travis Barker's birthday.
  • The album was called "When your heart stops bleeding" under Rhapsody's album review.

  • "Lycanthrope" was the second song released by the band. It was available for download on their official site on September 1, 2006.
  • "When Your Heart Stops Beating" was first released over KROQ radio. The song is also played as a bumper song on The Jim Rome Show.
  • On October 25, 2006, the song and "Cliffdiving" was leaked on the Internet from the album sampler. Even though it was the fourth song given to the public, it was the first leak not initiated by the band.
  • On October 28, 2006, the full album was leaked onto the internet.
  • On October 31, the acoustic version of "Baby, Come On" was released on iTunes.
  • On October 31, the acoustic version of "155" titled "145" (song is labeled for its tempo) was released on Yahoo! Music.
  • In late October, an electronic mix of "When Your Heart Stops Beating" was added to the band's official website and MySpace, the song was labeled as a B side on their MySpace.
  • The full album was available to hear on their MySpace during November until the album's US release on November 14.
  • On November 8, the album was available for streaming on MuchMusic, almost a week before its American release.
  • "No, It Isn't" was featured on an episode of Laguna Beach.

Reviews for the album were mixed, with a current Metacritic score of 60. While many punk- and a few mainstream-oriented publications gave it a high grade, other namable sources such as Rolling Stone and the Alternative Press were less impressed with the album.[2]
