"When You're Young" was released as a one-off single by The Jam. Released on 25th August 1979 it charted at #17 in the UK Singles Chart and was backed by the song "Smithers-Jones" that appears on the groups Setting Sons album. "Smithers-Jones" is widely considered to be Jam bassist Bruce Foxton's finest song-writing moment and also appears - with an orchestral arrangement - on the bands 1979 album "Setting Sons".
