One day at the Encyclopedia Britannica, one of the contributing editors decided to wear a funny hat while he was at work. A baseball cap with "rouge janitor" written on it. Some of the real janitors wore them, as a joke amongst themselves.
There are other ways to identify janitors. They have name badges, and wear grey overalls, and carry mops and buckets. But some janitors figure that if you found a mess in the EB offices, you would ask for someone wearing one of those caps. If an editor wore the cap it might cause confusion, somehow, among very stupid people, maybe. So the janitors asked the editor to take the cap off. He said no. Then they knocked the cap off and waved a fist at him. The editor picked up the cap and put it back on. So the janitors kicked the editor out of the building, and wouldnt let him back in unless he promised not to wear the cap again. Because at the offices of the Encyclopedia Britannica, janitors can do that.
Ridiculous? Read this, and WP:MOP. And welcome to Wikipedia.
