User:Where/Wikinfo merging

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When I was trying to merge things from wikinfo, I had a paragraph similar to this on my user page:

Currently, I am merging articles from Wikinfo into Wikipedia. Apparently, there is a fork of Wikipedia at wikinfo.org. They have over 30,000 unique articles. The majority of them are just out of date modified Wikipedia articles, but some of them are unique, and they should be merged back into Wikipedia. Merging should be done with caution, however, since wikinfo articles are not always appropriate for Wikipedia. In fact, most of them are non-notable, poorly written, dictionary definitions, POV, or pathetic beyond a stub. As of June 16, I have 2084 articles to consider merging.

However, I have found that there are so few good-quality wikinfo articles on topics that WP does not cover, that I think that I would be more helpful on Wikipedia doing other things. If somebody wants to continue with this for some reason, I would be happy to send the perl and bash scripts that I used when merging articles from wikinfo.
