It was directed by Lee H. Katzin with Bernard Girard (uncredited) and produced by Robert Aldrich with William Aldrich as associate producer and Peter Nelson as executive producer. The screenplay was by Theodore Apstein, based on the novel The Forbidden Garden by Ursula Curtiss. The music score was by Gerald Fried and the cinematography by Joseph F. Biroc.
The film stars Geraldine Page and Ruth Gordon with Rosemary Forsyth, Robert Fuller and Mildred Dunnock.
