WGVE-FM is a FM Station broadcasting on 88.7 MHz in Gary, Indiana east of the Chicago metropolitan area. It is owned and operated by Gary Community School Corporation. WGVE signed on in 1954. Originally located at Lew Wallace High School. It moved to its current location in the Gary Area Career Center in 1969. The station's current format is local news, music, and limited NPR. programing. The station also airs coverage of many high school and college sporting events.
WGVE is also home to the popular Blues program on Thursday nights from 7-10pm, The Blues You Can Use Radio Show with host Clarence Stevens and co-hosts blues queen Koko Taylor and John Bowles.
