WGMB ("Fox 44") is the local Fox affiliate for Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It transmits its analog signal on UHF channel 44, and its digital signal on UHF channel 45. The station is seen via satellite through DirecTV and Dish Network. It is owned by Communication Corporation of America, and is sister station to the area's The CW affiliate, WBRL-CA. WGMB also shares facilities and staff with WVLA and KZUP-CA. WGMB's transmitter is located near Addis, Louisiana.

It was founded in 1991, making Baton Rouge the last of the Top 100 Nielsen Designated Market Areas to receive a Fox affiliate. For a short time before the station signed on the air, local NBC affiliate WVLA aired week-delayed episodes of Fox shows such as The Simpsons, Married with Children, and In Living Color.

[edit] Newscast

On March 12, 2007, WGMB debuted a local newscast entitled Fox News Louisiana airing weeknights at 9 pm. The newscast is shared with WGMB's Fox sister stations in Louisiana, KMSS-TV in Shreveport and KADN in Lafayette.

While the entirety of WGMB's newscast is live, the first 20 minutes of the newscast for KMSS and KADN are pre-recorded in advance, and inserted over WGMB's live local segment. The segments are digitally edited to include stories by local reporters and photographers based in Shreveport and Lafayette, plus local weather forecasts for each market. They are fed back to those stations and aired while the Baton Rouge newscast is airing live.

The final two segments, primarily consisting of national news, world news and sports, are live to all three markets.

On August 20, 2007, WGMB debuted Fox News Louisiana AM, a fast-paced, two-hour program airs from 7 to 9 a.m. and goes head-to-head with national morning shows including NBC’s The Today Show and ABC’s Good Morning America. Rachel Slavik and Lauren Unger host Fox News Louisiana AM, while meteorologist Jesse Gunkel presents weather segments eight times an hour.
