WGFL is the CBS affiliate station in Gainesville, Florida, licensed in High Springs, Florida. WGFL is owned by New Age Media. Its transmitter is located in Newberry.
WGFL is carried on Cox Cable channel 4 in Gainesville and the surrounding area, hence the CBS 4 branding, but not in Ocala (part of the Orlando market), where Orlando's WKMG is offered instead; or in Lake City (part of the Jacksonville market), where Time Warner Cable offers WTEV instead.
Up until December 31st, 2006, WGFL offered a simulcast of Jacksonville CBS affiliate WTEV's daily newscasts at 11 PM. WGFL now airs INN (Independent News Network) weekdays at 11pm.
Notably, WGFL offers syndicated game shows Jeopardy! and Wheel Of Fortune.

[edit] History
WGFL originally opened as a WB and secondary UPN affiliate in 1997.
In 2002, Jacksonville's longtime CBS affiliate, WJXT, became an independent station. WJXT had been the default CBS affiliate for Gainesville (and much of north Florida) for many years. WGFL quickly signed on with CBS to keep the network available in Gainesville. It also changed its on-air moniker from "WB53" to "CBS4," after its cable channel number.
Starting in September 2006, WGFL began airing My Network TV on its DT2 subchannel, which is simulcast on WMYG-LP. On the My Network TV main network website, it lists WGFL DT2 along with WMYG-LP as an affiliate. Prior to September 2006, this channel had aired WB programming since the switch to CBS, under the moniker WB 10. [1]
On July 18, 2008, WGFL will close down its analog signal, one of very few "big 4" affiliates permitted by the FCC to cease analog transmission prior to the national digital switchover on February 17, 2009. After July 18, WGFL will be available only on cable, satellite, and its aerial digital signal.
On September 8, 2008, WGFL will also launch a new television channel, which will broadcast on VHF channel 9.[2] Specifics about the channel are unknown as of present, though the station is in talks of acquiring the NBC affiliation for the new channel; if so, network programming and some syndicated shows on WESH, which also serves Gainesville, will be blacked out on cable, as the new station will hold rights to enforce black outs. [3] In addition, channel 9 will be a digital broadcast signal ([4]); the new station also has a construction permit for analog channel 29.
