From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

WGDR is a college-based community radio station serving the Central Vermont region from the campus of Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont. It was founded in 1973.

[edit] Station Profile

WGDR 91.1 FM has always operated as a true hybrid radio station -- a cross between National Public Radio, the BBC, Pacifica Radio and more typical student-run college radio -- supported both by Goddard College and its surrounding communities.

Drawing from throughout northern and central Vermont, over 60 local volunteers contribute to each week's broadcast, providing music and public affairs programming that reflects the unique and independent spirit of the WGDR listener community.

[edit] WGDR Mission Statement

WGDR is an educational, community radio station from the campus of Goddard College providing non-commercial broadcasting resources for students, staff, faculty, and community members of the central Vermont area -- and a growing audience beyond central Vermont via its live Web stream.

The goal of the station is to enhance individual exploration and creativity within a free-format design of volunteer programming. The purpose of this free-format design is to better inform and interact with the listening community of the station's service area.

Complementing this format, the station seeks to encourage community participation, critical feedback, lively debate, and local expressions on all issues brought forward for discussion and examinations through the station's programs.
