WGAI (560 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a news format. Licensed to Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA, it serves the Hampton Roads, Virginia area. The station is currently owned by Max Radio of the Carolinas.
This station had been a Top 40 station in the 1960s and early 70s, but was an Adult Contemporary station by the end of the 70s. In the mid eighties the station went to a country format, but later returned to an adult comtemporary format by the late 80s. Joy Smith, daughter of famous DJ Bob "Wolfman Jack" Smith , was briefly afternoon drive at WGAI in 1989 as "Joy Jack". The station evolved into a talk format in the early nineties.
The station broadcasts syndicated news talk programs including Doug Stephans, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Dr Laura Schlessinger, Michael Savage, Phil Hendrie and Coast To Coast AM.
