[edit] History
The station signed on in 1961 as WPZZ undr a gospel music format. In 2000, it became "95.9 the Point," airing mainly conservative talk programming. On July 1, 2003, the station flipped formats to Contemporary Christian Music and became WIJY, "Joy 96," replacing Indianapolis station 98.3 WXIR (which had just become "Radio Disney" WRDZ). On September 21, 2005, it flipped again to Oldies WIAU ("Gold 95.9"), using the ABC "Pure Gold" format and the same image campaign as "Gold 104.5" WGLD in Indianapolis, which had just flipped to "Jack FM" WJJK. On Monday, November 12, 2007, WFDM "Freedom 95.9" began, airing virtually the same weekday lineup that had been heard by Indianapolis station WWFT.
[edit] Programming
In addition to its conservative talk lineup (which includes Dave Ramsey, Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannnity), WFDM is the flagship station for IUPUI basketball.
