Weydon School is a secondary school located in Weydon Lane, Wrecclesham, Farnham, Surrey, England. Opened as Weydon County Secondary School on 16th September 1957. First headmaster (1957 to 1968) was Mr A H Surman (nicknamed by students as "Grit"). Mr Chambers (inevitably nicknamed "Po") took over from him. By that time there were some 500 students in 5 academic years, years 1 to 4 divided into four streams based on perceived ability/achievement, year 5 divided into 2 streams, students from the lower 2 streams having left at age 15.
Currently the school caters for children from 11 to 16. Its main feeder schools are Pilgrims Way, Potters Gate, Rowledge, St Peter's, South Farnham School and Waverley Abbey School. A lot of the students go on from Weydon to Farnham College or Alton College. Weydon's current head teacher is Mr J. Winter. There are now over 1000 students attending the school and this number will probably increase. Weydon School was granted Specialist Science Status in 2003. At present there is a new project going on in Weydon School. The faraday project which is funded by the Government is aimed to increase attainment levels in science. Weydon has been selected out of only a few schools throughout the country to accept this grant. With this money a new high tech science computer room, rainforest room and state of the art labs are going to be built. Work is due to start in May and finish around September.
