A wet and messy fetish (WAM) is a form of sexual fetishism whereby a person becomes aroused when substances are deliberately and generously applied to the naked skin, or to the clothes people are wearing. [1]
Messy substances can include whipped cream, mud, shaving foam, custard, pudding, chocolate sauce, Japanese-style lotion, paint, oil or gunge/slime, etc. Wet substances are mainly water but can also include other liquids such as fruit juice or milk.
Bodily fluids such as feces, urine, semen and female ejaculate are not considered part of WAM. The former two are typically considered coprophilia and urophilia; the latter being somewhat mainstream in pornography. [1]
Part of the current awareness of wet and messy fetishism is due to the British fetish magazine Splosh!, founded in 1989, although similar scenarios have long been a mainstay of other British magazines such as Fiesta. Splosh featured pictures of, and stories about, women in wet and messy situations, although its production has recently slowed. This has led to the word "sploshing" being used as a kind of shorthand, especially in mainstream media, for the fetish[citation needed]. The advent of popular access to the Internet has led to the creation of websites and forums that allow professional WAM producers to showcase their material and for amateurs to exchange photos.
