Westville, KwaZulu-Natal

Westville is a town in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa that is situated inland between Durban and Pinetown. It now forms part of the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, which also includes Durban. The town was laid out on the farm Westville (named in honour of Martin West, the British lieutenant-governor of Natal) which was formed in 1847.

Westville is a fast growing decentralised hub of Durban. Westville is well known as an academic town and has well regarded schools such as Westville Boys' High School and Westville Girls' High School. A 2 square kilometre campus of University of KwaZulu-Natal (former University of Durban-Westville) is situated in Westville.

Westville is an established upmarket suburb, with the forth most expensive average property prices in the province after Umhlanga, Durban North and the Berea.

There are several churches in Westville, including the Westville Catholic Church, Our Lady of Lourdes, situated in the town centre, the Westville Baptist Church and St Elizabeth's Anglican Church.

Westville is home to the shopping complex The Pavilion. The Pavilion is one of the largest shopping centres in South Africa.
