Westport Middle School is a comprehensive middle school located at 300 East 39th Street in Kansas City, Missouri. It is part of the Kansas City, Missouri School District.
[edit] School Background
Westport Middle School is most likely named after Westport, a historic neighborhood in Kansas City, Missouri, USA that was originally its own town. It was annexed by Kansas City in 1897. Today, it is one of Kansas City's main entertainment districts. The middle school is across the street from Westport High School. They were both a charter school since 1999.
[edit] Principal
Derald Davis is currently the principal of Westport High School and Westport Middle School. He took over in second semester of 2006-2007 when the previous principal of Westport High got in trouble. It was heard that she was on vacation in Las Vegas. She got sent back to Lincoln Prep High as a Vice Principal. Mr. Davis became principal of Westport Middle when the Kansas City, Missouri School District took back the two schools from charter in 2004-2005. They were both charter schools since 1999.
